15 October, 2015
Different US analysts are trying to figure out exactly how well the iPhone is doing and initial estimates might have been too ambitious.

AnonD-364786, 16 Oct 2015apple counts sales ( number of phones activated ) and not s... moreThis is incorrect.

Apple has been using shipped figures since 2 years ago. They even admit it themselves.

Don't get into another argument with me. You always end up losing.

never Apple still earn very much, because the costs very low but the price very high, people will also get high because they are wealthy to become a Isheep.

Note5, 16 Oct 2015In India, people started practicing looking other way of iP... moreI would not make a generalized statement like that. There can be people who think iPhone is not worth for the money. However, a lot people I have seen so far are all secretly nurturing a wish if they can buy an iPhone. Since that is beyond their grasp (because of initial high price ) they whine and crib here. I am a BlackBerry fan and has a Lumia 930 for the quality of camera. I am not into phones more than 5". So with the new 12 MP camera, and compact size and better body ( non-bendable) I find iPhone 6s is an attractive proposition. Yes, the price is slightly above my budget ( I was expecting it is to be 55K - 850 USD if you like). But I don't need an iPhone urgently, I will wait a couple of months for the price to come down to the manageable range. I am not interested in the older models because of their fragile nature.

In India, people started practicing looking other way of iPhone 6S due to its extreme price points and its competitors offer far superior and jazzy featured smart phones (Edge + for example from Samsung) far lesser price points. Now, Google Nexus 6P which originally considered expensive but looking more and more cheaper by just comparing it with iPhone 6S or 6S Plus. This everlasting uptrend cannot sustain in any business and this trend at some point look southwards, be it Samsung, Apple, Google or Microsoft! It is just inevitable!

In HK, Apple Stores have been selling out daily and it's extremely difficult to get a phone here. So I think that iPhone's popularity is more than just company created hype...

Anonymous, 16 Oct 2015Initial "sales" was 13 million *shipped* to retailers and c... moreDo you have a source for that, because my understanding is that most of these are pre-orders and store walk-ins (Apple stores), which means that a large chunk of the 13mn is actually sales rather than just store deliveries.

On top of that, every iPhone needs to be "activated", so I would believe that the number of sales is based on activations rather than just stock.

I'm not trying to start an argument, but if you've got any info that would help.

The iPhone isn't actually more expensive than the other top ranges plus you can get it virtually for free with most network contracts. The fact you think it is "more expensive" says their marketing has worked :)

The sell-through rate (Units sold to consumers) was way worse. Most stores (90+% by Pacfic Crest's analysis) didn't even sell-out and have loads of 6s in stock.
