16 December, 2015

AnonD-364786, 16 Dec 2015Data might be bit misleading. We need absolute numbers to ... moreIt's not hard to find the trend in sales numbers online. Probably about 100 million iPhones and about 50 million Galaxies for this gen. Out of your butt isn't a good place to pull a number.

Apple user here since 2010, i cant imagine myself in another ecosystem other than IOS. I wouldnt change/trade mine iphone for a free S6 or Z5 anytime

You can trade in garbage (iPhone) for a premium cell phone like Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus? What a deal.

FrankDrebin, 16 Dec 2015If only this shows a few things: Marketing works, Samsun... moreAs a full package, software/hardware/customer service/quick updates/ease of use etc iPhone is always an update! With Android flagships you only get one of those at a time, maybe two but never complete package thats why iPhone sales are so good! Deny it or hate it but this is the truth!

Of course people in the UK won't be trading in last year's devices for this year's new ones. Carriers in the UK use 2 year contract terms so a year on those that got ip6 won't be able to go for ip6s as they're still commited to a contract with the older handset.

Does anyone actually research these articles before publishing?

Useless stats. Without knowing quarter by quarter market ratio of all brands over the past 3 years it is impossible to know the percentage of owners that jumped ship.

If only this shows a few things:

Marketing works, Samsung sucks, Sony's marketing has not been good.

Ive seen people with Xperia z3 go to an iphone 6s, even when its actually a downgrade more than an upgrade. The reason? They think its better, even when its not.

                        Good news for Sony :-)
Least abandoners, third place in trade ins to Sony.
Wonder about percentages of trade ins from iphones and sammys to a Sony device.

Dont know about reliability of info though, that source link leads to...nothing

It's amazing Sony is third, even if with a huge margin.... Sony should focus to increase their hold over European markets... Sadly most Sony phones sold in Europe are mid range phones, not the Z series!

Yes but the only problem with this report is when they say that uses are not trading in there phones from last year I.e. Trade in iPhone 6 for. 6s, that's just because they can easy get a good price on eBay and phone shops and so on for an iPhone 6, this means nothing if they not trade them in on some trade in shop

                                Here's what you just read:
                                - people like a brand so they stick with it, while some switched over to try something else
                                - very popular phones (or really high selling phones) were traded in mode than more obscure (rare'er) phones

                                Remind me again who cares?

                                    Data might be bit misleading.
We need absolute numbers to conclude.

Assume 1 million iphones git sold and 100k buyers r from samsung , defection rate is 10% for samsung.

Say 1000 galaxy S6 got sold and 400 are ex iphone users, defection rate is 40%.
