Xiaomi smartphone sales in 2015 below lowest expectations

15 January, 2016
The Chinese company's still managed to achieve a 16% YoY growth.

Sort by:

Xiaomi has more room to grow, but after China and India, not many countries have that amount of population and that price sensitive attitude. Xiaomi will keep growing, in my opinion, but in more shy numbers and with more investment, as it is expected. Neither the US, nor the European markets will be a wise choice for now. The company should continue its movement towards Latin America and Africa.

I think Xiaomi should not release phones too quickly with little update which makes their customer angry!
Due to lot of unofficial sell, its price varies frequently which it also a problem for reselling.

Please make phones with screen protection & at least 32 GB internal memory if SD card not supported.

We also want regular android update.

Xiaomi needs to seriously improve their Service Center quality. I keep hearing bad stories from users in Indonesia when their new smarphone malfunction and it takes months to repair or replace. The user were left dumbfounded without any news after 2-4 weeks leaving their phones to the service center. I even read some complaints of unprofesional behavior from the staff who chew bubble gums & made nasty popping sound while serving the customers. That is something I've never seen in other service centers. These stories have affected my confidence to try Xiaomi phone for the 1st time. Waiting for Mi5, my confidence is now left only 50%.

AnonD-418160, 15 Jan 2016True, MIUI is terrible, I don't get why people acclaim so m... moreIf MIUI is such a terrible battery sucker as you claim, why don't the AOSP builds for Note 2 have any better battery life than the official MIUI dev builds? From what I saw on xdadev, the AOSP builds even often have even worse battery life.

I wasn't too impressed by MIUI when I first saw it myself. After using it for a while, I do think it's aesthetically pleasing and not lacking any features I'd need. Copy of iOS or not, I like it.

15% increase in sales is a huge accomplishment.

i think major problem is service center, small city people only trust on those brand whose service center is in nearby area

i don't think xiaomi sells in 2015 below lowest expectations. because its a brand which ensure us high quality-cheap price level smartphone. i am a user of it. its the best device because i am getting solid performance from it.

I have become a fan of Xiaomi. The build quality of their phones is awesome. Its the only brand that I have owned which I did not take to a service center. I have had Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi and Meizu. The last one I bought was a meizu M2. Unfortunately I met with an accident and the glass was broken. Screen was intact and working. When I took it to the service center they asked for 4500 INR for the glass. So I did not change it. I sold the phone and went back to my Redmi 1s, which is still working absolutely great without issues after 1 Year and 2 months. I have updated it to MIUI 7 and it works great. They are now releasing regular updates. Even service centers of mi are also good in Chennai. Meizu service center(Deprosys) in Chennai is horrible. Even though I see lot many brands(even phones from bigger brands) being released in India, I think I will stay with mi.

India is one of the biggest market for xiaomi but they are not releasing good phones in India like the redmi note 2 prime or the redmi note 3
I hope they release those 2 phones along with xiaomi mi 5 I'm just waiting for the phone

xiaomi's market strategy is not good enough. They are no longer the only player who offers cheap price good phone.phone. Lenovo have better options Samsung is also joining the race
and other Chiness companies are also joining the race. Xiaomi haven't released any good phone after mi4 and newest release redmi note prime is not up to the mark in it's price range.
Mi4i was a total disaster with heating issue and they are not selling 32 GB versions. And so so so late in software update while other companies have already started giving marshmallow update they are still playing with kitkat.
So if they release all the latest model like note 3 mi4 pro and other models they release in china they might have a shot also please update the OS .

because it doesn't release good phones in Indian market.may be they think that Indians are fools.all phones they released have heating problem, battery charging reduced drastically and camera quality also not to the mark.

Why Xiaomi sale phone down?? I think Xiaomi phone is very nice with design and price. I don't think customer head back with xiaomi. I think the root cause is marketing and strategy...I hope Xiaomi will best in the next time..

if they keeps on producing fones like redmi note prime, redmi note 3 and redmi 3 surely their sales will go down ...coz everyone wants 2 Sim slot and expansion slot... as well as not outdated spec in redmi note prime..

It's funny how a 15% sales GROWTH yoy with no new significant market gains is considered a failure if you set impossible goals in the first place. It is still a huge success. They managed to keep their existing share and penetrate existing markets by additional 15%. They already have ridiculous sales for a chinese start up.

If they want to sell a phone, they have to make it available. Simple as that. I'm from Canada.

Can't say didn't see that coming.
