27 January, 2016
This is the AT&T version, while the other result comes from a Canadian model.

So, we learn from Geekbench Mali T880MP4 bigger than Mali T880MP12 :)
We need a honest and honorable benchmark result, not paid.

I understand Samsung, Qualcomm, Mediatek have 8 core CPUs. But is there any use or app that uses 8 cores? Not even Programs on PCs use more than 4 cores. So single core performance is still more important. It was said on a youtube channel there is is no use for so many cores if a part of them are not used.

Wow....single core is better so the S820 is better. ...
There are other aspects to the SoC than just single and multi core score.
        This is just one test.
These scores differ from past scores of both.
Multi core counts. Especially when there is a large margin of lead.
        So....quit whining

Ritzie, 28 Jan 2016CPU and GPU, no. They're relatively the same or at par with... moreOS optimization has not a lot to do with benchmark results. Browser benchmarks yes, but calculation and gpu benchmarks almost none effect at all. The drivers have to be good of course but that's not a OS thing. The reason why Apple scored high numbers is pretty simple explained:
Big cores with a lot of power
Extremely good bus to the RAM and ROM
Very fast RAM AND fast ROM
Finally a strong good integrated GPU
Yeah, that's good engineering but it has nothing to do with the OS. At least not in terms of benchmarks.

The only reason why phones equipped with snapdragons perform better is because of the beefier GPUs. Exynos and even Kirin are better at processing but they come with weak gpus that bottlenecks their performance.

Metrics exist for the sole reason of having a quantitative analysis at a feasible and practical criteria (in terms of money).
It's NOT 100% perfect and only as close to 90% real world scenarios but it's the next best thing we have for comparison.

Are you able to buy ALL existing phones and say which phone is best in real world?
If so, you're either damn super rich or damn stupid.
If not, then the metrics are the next best thing to compare.

Optimization and Firmware, yes. This is the only sole reason why the iOS products swept through last quarter 2015's benchmark against Samsung's Exynos.

Meh, multi-core performance is such a useless metric outside of benchmarks, a lot of the applications where multi-core performance can actually be fully utilized would be better suited to be run on GPUs anyway. Personally I'd prefer the higher single core performance of the 820, at least with that I know I'll get better performance of out apps that aren't fully utilizing 8 cores, which I suspect is going to be 90% of what I'd use a phone for anyway.
