That's down from the 10.5 million figure reported in the same quarter of the previous year.

Good day. I've bought a Microsoft Lumia 430, Made in China. But it's battery is very very weak. I am operating only incoming and outgoing call activities. But the Battery is giving only max 20 hours service. It's operating system is so difficult. I did not find any Call centre here from where I can save or delete any required phone number. May I get any help? Pls guide
me. Thanks.

Competing with price is very difficult now. There are very good phones from Xiaomi with better specs and at a lower price.

You are right the W10M market in increasing very slowly. Currently the worldwide share is around 2.88%. But in some countries in Asia and Europe it passes iOS share.

First off, I ain't siding with anyone, this is just what i know with all the research I've done and news in regards with Nokia (Finland) since it's so bad they were out of the market for a while now (NOT DEAD).

Nokia Finland is still under Microsoft up until 2nd Q of this year 2016. In the 3rd Q, Nokia Finland will have their Smartphones be released with Android OS since they have agreed to part ways with Microsoft and the Nokia China manufacturers last September 2014. Nokia in China however, will still manufacture phones/tablets with Nokia brand but with Windows OS until their contract with Microsoft is done. Don't get confused, Nokia Finland has the original copyright of the brand but Nokia China can still use the brand name but with Windows OS as a part of their contract with Microsoft and not the main Nokia. Both Nokia Finland and Nokia China tho will still manufacture old-school phones with 3x4 or QWERTY keypad and the IMEI/MEIDs will be the identifiers if where those phones came from.

Now, why you guys keep blaming Nokia for their fall? Nokia depended on what Microsoft told them and expected that Microsoft will have them compete with Apple, Samsung, Sony and ETC. I previously owned phones from Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Alacatel, Samsung and now I am not using any of those brands since I am have a high-end phone bought with a mid-range price and I am satisfied with it for almost 2yrs now without any complains except some Google apps stops running for like once a month. I am waiting for Nokia Finland to release the flagship Android Phone they announced last year, it's already finished and waiting for release but oh well, only time can tell when will it really be released, I am not referring to Nokia C1 since that is also from Finland and the N1 is from China.

Folks, don't argue with the OS, it always depends on you, the user, your budget, how you use the phone and how you take care of it, I have a local phone but it's competing with my branded in terms of performance, gaming, camera, videos, browsing, except the battery since my branded phone has 3500 and 4100mah and my local phone has 2500mah only.

sr777, 31 Jan 2016Okay then why Windows phone? Why not Sailfish or Tizen (it ... moreThis was my question for a long time before Nokia got sold. At that time (2010) their was a blogger that was speculating some very interesting stuff but in the same time, me being a Nokia fan, was annoying as he**. He was talking about a infiltrated ms rat into NoKia headquarters that will bring Nokia down and will sell it to ms. Ms will try to be something like apple and that is why they will do this (i remember Nokia acussing them they don't work on their system at all to bring customers), this was somekind of clue. That guy also was telling that till 2015 their will be no more Nokia (yeah disturbing for me). In fact, that guy told exactly what happened 4 years before happening. So why windows? You tell me. Elop ring a bell? After all, this guy was the one declaring Symbian (Nokia's own platform) a burning one, also, he was the one killing meego before n9 even came out with the same kind of declarations. Elop through magic, was very sure Windows phone will succed, or was he? And signed a very annoying contract. In which Nokia was not alowed to produce other smartphones but windows, at least, not flaships! What got Nokia out of this contract? Well, money to further produce hardware and promote windows phone. The whole buissines is a bit wird now, isn't it? So, you can answered your self with this knowlege or decide what to think about... I have my opinions, and for me is simple: Nokia falling was planned a long time ago. By who? I don't know. Samsung? Apple? Microsoft? Or maybe all tree of them? I don't know but for sure Nokia did not loose cause of lack of innovations. Quite on the contrary! Their were multi anti nokia campains that seem Nokia embraced way to easy. What do i mean by that? Well, everystore i entered and asked for a Nokia device they were totaly against it. Like almost bagging me not to buy one but to buy a samsung cause is better. Am pretty sure this wasn't happening only in my city or Country. Also, every review about Nokia phones was biased to the core and the phones were always put under heavy negative points, that weren't even real! But what matters is what people see and believe.... Anyway

Turning to windows phone i can assure you that at this point their is no turning back. So windows phone/mobile project will not be shut down. Windows 10 ecosystem without a smartphone is not complete. So ms, as long as win10 is up, will produce smartphones. Why others are reculent to embrace the system? Well, is not finished and the new released phones are really made only for fans! But if ms plays good and patiently windows phone will gain popularity. Slow but for sure. Windows phones, especially the midrage devices are way better smartphones then androids at those prices. Name me a phone as good as 640 at 120 euros. NONE. When people will realise this...will be android massacre. At least the low end/ midrage share.

Carol, 30 Jan 2016Fair enough, still, never heard of meego in n900... and am ... moreOkay then why Windows phone? Why not Sailfish or Tizen (it seems you don't like Ubuntu so No to Ubuntu touch as well)?

Even though Microsoft expects the app store to improve through UWP and project IslandWood, it is not going to happen overnight. (I noticed there is a small increase in new apps coming to the app store as universal apps).

And not many manufacturers embraced W10M. Only Blu, Acer and two Japanese manufacturers are going with new W10M phones.

Some people simply don't like the tile interface. And currently we can't do anything about it.

All these factors effect the market share. And looking at the current state of Windows phone, it is very bad. Will Windows phone be able to gain market? Is it worth for me to invest on a another Windows phone?

It is very hard for a big company like Microsoft sustain with small market share.

Did you ... moreI dare to contradict you again but first: What have windows mobile of the past and samsung to do with what i said? I can see no conection between me and your claims. By the way i have worked with a windows mobile smartphone for a while;) if we are at the bragging part again. So let's go back to Nokia and me contradicting you. Ever heard of sony p*** series? Touch screen smartphones;). Ever heard of Nokia 7700 or 7710? What's my point? Well, their were touchscreen smartphones way before crapple;). And did not gain to much popularity. So your claim is invalid;), and mine susteins even more what i have said before;). Nokia as a mobile company died cause of stupidity and cheep attaks from Samdung and crapple;). By the way, crapple still pays 10 euros to Nokia for every device they sell just cause they stole and used pretty much all of what Nokia innovated to make their so called smartphones;).

What i have against android has nothing to do with the code and Linux. But has something to do with deceit and theft. Something Android and Ubuntu are quite good at. The so called free systems aren't free at all;). Linux is a good system for somebody that really knows what he/she's doing, but it's derivate Softwares, almost all of them, are a pain in the life of their user. Android was born on the back of Symbian Linux and Maemo (this is my personal opinion no matter what others say, a cheap copy that never expected to reach this far) and Samsung spread lies about Symbian and Nokia, promoting a very unstable retarded system, at that time. They knew they will never have a chance against Nokia using Symbian system further (they never had). Android and apple being their way out from under the NOKIA's foot. Hence Samsung being sued at every corner by apple. Cause well, their entire interface (more like...launcher) was copied. Samsung galaxy s2 was a cheap crapp made out of toilet Papier but was sold as a better version of iPhone while was doing well less then a Symbian but was faster, well, not that fast, let's not exagerate, after a week of use, one could smash that crap into oblivion. Still people were buying. Why is that? They never heard of smartphones before, for them, was something new. Another Chance for Samsung to spread their ongoing anti-nokia propaganda. Anyway, at that time i never saw someone saying: hey, i have android. But more like: hey i have a better iPhone cause can do this and that and it's cheaper... Android grew with Samsung, i wander why is that!? Is Samsung hardware better then others? :)))))))))))))

It was Nokia which was putting its heart out for Windows Phone. They had a hardware unit which was as good as Apple's, if not better. Many at Microsoft know it was their own gross ineptitude for the failure. They just don't want to recognize it. I believe it can still be given a certain shape.

If Microsoft did all what it promised while launching Windows 10 to mobile, there might be some hope in the minds of customers. But when Microsoft announced that there will not be any software platform to convert android apps to windows there started the downfall. And also Microsoft is more concentrated to develop apps to iOS and Android than to it's own Microsoft mobiles. On July 29th 2015 Microsoft team announced that there will be an official update coming soon to all Windows 8.1 mobiles, but there were no traces of update till date.
