MediaTek Helio X30 posts a smashing Antutu score, built on 10nm process

27 April, 2016
The X30 will support up to 8GB of RAM and come with a PowerVR GPU.

I wonder why MEDIATEK dropped the POWERVR GPU for MALI GPU in the HELIO X20 series.
It is good to see the PowerVR GPU back. It was the main turning point in the HelioX10.
But plenty cores doesnt really imply best performance but i hope the X30 surprise us

Anonymous, 18 May 2016I think they should delay Helio x30 release until 2017, wit... morelol. u really don't know what u r talking about, therefore u can give that impossible formula...

Cortex A35 while indeed the MOST power efficient SoC, but NOT the perfect performance/power solutions which is the trend for mid-end SoC.
From what I read on ARM sites, the most A35 can squueze out of its CPU is at BEST 80%, while most of the time just around 60% of A53 performance, MOREOVER, A35 can ONLY support WEAK Mali T820/T830 GPU, unlike A53 which supports the same HIGH PERFORMANCE T860/T880 GPU as Cortex A72 does.

So, still asking to get a Cortex A35 for BETTER energy saving at the cost of WORSE CPU performance & GPU supports?

Here is what I understand after reading ARM references of Cortex A53 & A35.
Cortex A53: 2nd gen of Cortex A9, which is known for its CPU performance, with BETTER energy savings now in A53
Cortex A35: 2nd gen of combination Cortex A5 & A7, which is known for its LOW PERFORMANCE CPU, GPU, HIGH energy-savings value, and LOW COST PRODUCTIONS

Therefore, 4x Cortex A73 + 6 Cortex A35 is BULLSHIT, since all u choose is GOD-like performance when doing heavy process, OR SHIT-like performance when doing background process or light tasks.

And, I think I don't have to say this, but I'll still do it nonetheless:
MediaTek or any SoC manufacturers are not IDIOT. They know what is best and what is going to sold before properly release a SoC to the public because MANUFACTURING SoC is SO DAMN EXPENSIVE, and any failed SoC will only have negative feedback to them (see what happens when Qualcomm released SD 615 & SD 810?)

Anonymous, 26 Jul 2016820 is Qualcomm 2016 chipset.... Helio x30 is Mediatek 2017... morehtc 10 SD820 is 154000-157000 . Still very impressive score witch may go further to 200000 after optimization but SD830 will be the winner with over 220000 (how the hell I know!!!?).

How these both can be compared ?

              Helio x30 suggestion for 2017:

              CPU: 2x A73 2.8GHz + 4x A35 2GHz + 4x A35 2GHz

              GPU: Mali-G71 MP12 or MP16

I think they should delay Helio x30 release until 2017, with possible ways to improve current specs with more time.

10nm is very good step to reduce energy usage, but even better way would to replace all A53 cores with A35 cores.

                It would be like this: 4x "Artemis" 2.8GHz + 4x A35 2GHz + 2x A35 1.5GHz
I'm not really sure what is max freq for A35, but this is just my dream idea.

is 6GB or 8GB supported? And X RAM type supported?

this beat snapdragon 820? really? maybe, but snapdragon 820 is this year flagship, no next year flagship. snapdragon will bring 830 model and x30 will be no global flagship, but mediatek flagship.

The problem is that at this particular time this processor is one off prototype and probably only one from batch of 10k is stable enough to test. That mean such score is meaningless until they can actually mass produce the chips... by which time all competitors going to have their answer as well.

LoL look at that graph, Mediatek, why are you afraid of putting your X20 beside SD820 or Exynos 8890? You put it beside last gen SD810 and Exynos? Is your X20 supposed to be competing with last gen?

By the time your X30 arrive, SD830 and next Exynos are going to crush your pathetic 160k score (with lesser cores to boot) and you'll have to compare your X30 to SD820/E8890 again.
