Most o... morehey can you tell me which device are you using... I have the Redmi 1s, the MI3 and the Redmi note 3 and non of the system apps have Ads, not sure what you are talking about.
Also, when any device is updated to a newer version of Android, there are bugs and optimization issues, due to which you would feel that the device slows down or battery performance reduces. It happens with iPhones and even Nexus phones, due to which you have multiple incremental versions like Android 5.0 , 5.1 then 6.0, 6.0.1 and iOS version 9, 9.1, 9.2
Xiaomi also does incremental updates and fixes and improves their OS. If you flash a Developer ROM, you will get updates to your device weekly or bi-weekly, which is very good in my opinion.

However, its a delight to many users having 'flavors' unaware of potential hiccups/stutters/lags. And some have grown tired of 'vanilla': pureness vs uniqueness. That uniqueness is one of the selling point of custom ui and will eventually grow in you.
I am actually hats off to those who keep these custom ui' s on improving, updating to current OS version, and making it lighter as time progresses.

I dont like MiUI, Flyme UI its better (based Redmi Note 2 on MiUI 6 and M2 Note on Flyme 4.5 experience,performance,UI design and features)

Most of the apps. you open start at the online advertisement screen. Even music and file explorer apps.
I think people will start hating MI devices soon cause of that as they make abuse of it.
BTW.. they intentionally slow down the performance and battery life before launching a new MIUI version, so when you'l update you'l have a fake feeling of a boosted MIUI version, it's actually same, maybe even slower, but you'l not notice.....
I wrote a lot in the forum about their aggressive politics regarding customers. Nobody do that so often (performance and battery decrease).

the only thing i hate about xiaomi is their custom ui "miui".
otherwise the phone is superb according to price and certainly a value for money, i don't understand why these companies try to customize their skin when pure Android is so good
