A model with high end chipset to tie us over till the "proper" flagship shows up.
I would actually like to see a smartphone from Sony with competition specs, but with Sony working their stuff on it (UI, battery endurance...) plus something gimmicky for the camera (like the camera on older SonyEricsson branded phones, c902 for instance).

mrgud, 12 May 2016That's all well and dandy, but it's also a way to hurt thei... moreI think first problem that Sony have is that they don't even have that '' 40 sec commercial '' , Xperia have non existent marketing ... it's clear that Mobile sales is not Sony priority at the moment or at least not until now .
I would like more RAM to , 4gb wouldn't hurt . about the battery I'm not sure yet why capacity is not bigger but knowing Sony engineering it must be different build from Z that makes less space for battery...Z5 got battery capacity cut from Z3 , because putting all ports in the right place and buttons take some space for connections,cooling system and fingerprint sensor on the side takes some space to... I think if they where able to give more capacity to battery then they would...or it's just midrange phone(it's unknown at this moment what are SONY plans for XP) and for midrange phone maybe they don't want to give it bigger battery...

To make things clear, personally I believe the battery will last for 2 days of moderate usage, but why not make it 4 days? And the RAM will be enough to handle all everyday tasks, but why not give more?
If they would give more, the guys at marketing department would have it much easier to persuade people into buying this phone and maybe the head's wouldn't be considering the possibility to close down the mobile department...

Ive used an iPhone for the past 10 years. And have bought a new iPhone every year. i am finally realizing how behind the iPhone is. Besides iTunes the iPhone is very behind in technology. They are just a very good branding company and are very good at integrating media to the phone. i will be buying a sony phone very soon.

Those X Performance sounds promising to compete with the earlier S7, H10, or G5. And Sony has a good reputation for delivering android update after the nexus series.
But I'm still waiting for a 6.4" version for X Performance. Still loving my Z Ultra, and won't change till get the better one.

I really don't get you .. my first statement was and stays that S7 has no advantage over XP regarding RAM memory because of screen resolutions and actually S7 is maybe even at disadvantage. it's just that other guy ''mir'' interpreted my words differently due to his poor knowledge on tech but no wonder though , he is an Apple fanboy ....
If you are so much in need of better resolution for VR then get Z5 Premium ;) it's got best resolution and first UHD phone , that is double the resolution of QHD in S7 .
p.s. now I'm kidding I know you won't get Z5P because you are sammy boy :D

If QHD phone cause frame drop on gaming because "underpowered GPU" not RAM. That's why FHD phone with Adreno530 is better than QHD phone uses same GPU. But I don't care because every flagship phones with QHD still provides a smooth experience
More resolution = better VR experience

ok , my last reasonable try with you .
GPU is ''responsible'' and more pixels it has to push(QHD is double from FHD) it puts more strain on it . Meaning rendering system UI and every app in higher resolution will consume considerably more vRAM .
Mobile GPU like andreno530 doesn't have it's own dedicated video RAM but shares one and same system memory/RAM in the phone .
simply put higher the resolution is the more RAM is generally going to be consumed by device.
for example that is why Note5 has barley 1GB free RAM and Z5 has almost 2gb free RAM for the user...

I will be kind to enlighten you : it shares system RAM ! it doesn't have it's own dedicated vRAM like in PC's (and even some PC's still use integrated graphic cards,those are office computers mostly).
So if you don't know the basic stuff how the hardware is functioning then it would be smarter to stay silent for people like you.

This phone is inferior to the competitors.
For example Galaxy S7 is a much better phone in every aspect, except for the front camera.
I love Xperia-s, had and have a lot of them, but this one is not enough.
Weak hardver, ugly, thick, and weak battery.
Sorry Sony, this is the end for you!
I am sad, but this is the truth!
