Apple needs to do introduce a cheap variant of the iPhone to truly gain a meaningful foothold in the Indian market..... All Apple needs to do really is copy the Chinese module of producing quality phones, with great specs at an affordable price.... Lets say Apply introduces a "toned down" version of the iPhone (a 5 inch screen 1080p with a quad core processor - 2 to 3 GB ram - expandable memory with a 12 to 16 MP camera) - at around 10 - 15 thousand rupees..... They'll have an absolute winner by all accounts.....

India is still a poor country where cheap low end phones still rule. That's where Android comes in. Also, Apple's OS is not open enough for India. Indians need to be able to download illegal content instead of paying developers/studios for their work. That's where Android comes in.

Although if we ignore Apple iPhone.... one has to admit that ipad ..mac books...Imacs ....Apple TV..their routers ...everything is top notch ...and works perfectly n is very much reliable...... just the iPhone I hate.

So I appreciate Apple for other products

focusing on the topic related to smartphones and Apple in general
                                    ........
just quick market comparison ( in terms of used phone )
samsung leads the all the way
                                    Apple comes a distant ( miles ) 2nd ....
Now comes to the business part....
Samsung : 17% of the profit comes from used phones
Apple : only 3.7% of the profit comes from used phones
in order to bridge the gap ( and earn more profits in general ) apple has to find a place where it has not ventured into
US / Canada / Europe already has a base for refurbished iphones
                                    Russia : out of question
China : too competitive to breath ( Xiaomi / huawei / Meizu/ Letvs / OPPO etc )at times they offer new phones at a price much cheaper that refurbished iphones
so the only country remains is INDIA
its a young vibrant developing and hugely populated country ( though buying power is less )
                                    no company has market domination
so investing in this country would certainly help generate revenue with near outdated phones with Apple certification and get them profit ......
                                    that business for you
                                    :)

I don't see Apple EVER gaining much traction in India. They're as much of a status symbol here as everywhere else, but even so, first and foremost, Indians think with their wallets; few could justify the cost of getting something as overpriced as an iPhone, when they can get something else that'll do everything they need it to do for a fraction of the price. Of course, there will still be plenty of people buying them, enough for Apple to make a sizeable profit, but their market share will probably only increase by 5% at most.

the pricing is the main issue.. Apple should try to make their products in India, that way it can be way more succesful.. and more people will get the job. Samsung did that, now it and micromax are leaders
