Android = fragmented phones. Windows phone 7 & iphone with 1 system are the future.

People need to look at this from the business side of things. The manufactures don't want to keep updating older models, they don't make money that way. You make money by bring out new models every 6 to 12 months with the latest and great tech at the time and sell it. As soon as its 12months old you forget about it and move on.
At the moment the manufactures and google are pushing what many consumers believe to be a new os/product, so they are pushing out quite a few models quickly, trying to gain market share. Some won't be upgradeable, but those models will be cheap and outdated probably on release.
If the consumer really cares/wants to have the latest OS then they will buy the newest/most expensive phone at that time.

Its not about "popularity" but the "availability" !!
Whats most unfortunate about android is that people are still stuck with outdated android builds even though the hardware has enough juice to run the latest builds. Google need to put some control on manufacturers regarding this. Otherwise the fragmentation gonna go even worse!

Did you read what gsmarena said :

" If the current trends continue (and we suspect that they will even accelerate), by the end of the year (when Gingerbread should be announced)"

This means by the end of the yeat gingerbread will be announced not used! So, for all the morans and douchebags outthere with a low IQ, stop saying that S/E will be two versions behind and samsung will be one version behind, well maybe next year not this year so STFU, stupid people really irritate me.

Now both the X10 and SGS have 2.1, after a while SGS will get Froyo which means it will get the latest and greatest os from google, let's just hope that samsung really fixs the bugs.

And SE X10 will only be one version behind, not two versions ! So still 2.1 is great and it has most of the apps+ games on android.

Sinto, 02 Nov 2010too many versions from android for less than two years. How... morereally. too many versions compared to what. how many IOS versions are there? a lot more than android has. I was forced to install three in less than 3 months with a 3GS. my Ipod touch needed an upgrade every time I added any contenet viamy PC. Itunes needed an upgrade too :( amazingly how hard adding the latest photo album would was. updates itunes reboot, update device OS. restore device content. add new content to device. android doesn't seem to have these type of problems.

Why do they give them stupid names? Why not just call it 2.1 or 2.2, I've got 2.2 on my Desire and some of my Iphone mates couldn't believe how good it was, I'm very impressed.
