Anonymous, 17 Oct 2016I might sound dumb when I ask this but what is nm or 10nm i... morenm=nanometer which is the size of the chips transistor. Smaller it is means it uses less energy and will produce less heat. This enables them to clock the chips higher and also get better efficiency.

Samsung will be the first company to make 10nm cell phone chip it will also benefit others like Qualcomm who use Samsung to make their high end SOCs like the 820.

This is one of the reasons samsung will continue to stay on top as despite some of the more ignorant and jaded public, samsung continues to move forward. Haters gonna cry in a corner, and nobody's going to care about them.

Will 10 nm make the phone less vulnerable to the explosion?

I might sound dumb when I ask this but what is nm or 10nm if it has do with generations. Also, how is this special than other companies (sorry if this is so obvious but I don't understand it at all. I wouldn't think a snapdragon chip would be so complicated!)

AMD vs Intel have shown us great capability difference that design and the rest of the tech could do.

Surely it might be slightly faster and efficient than the 14nm at very least but might turn into another SnapDragon 810

Samsung do state that they have the tech for producing up to 7nm SoC but they are trying to phase them in slowly and letting the rest of the tech to keep up. (also more profit)

But Note 7 change the plan and everything is being fast forwarded. Good for us, hopefullly. I mean, hopefully SoC design and the rest of tech part is capable to fully utilize the 10nm and is not 10 nm in the name only.
