So Kirin is already a Snapdragon killer. Its only unpopular because its source code isn't available for development.

Given 10nm architecture, quad 2.4 core or octa 2.6 either way, with good optimizations Snapdragon 830 can come close or be better. If GPU gets at least 20% better and raw power at least 30% better, then they can come close. Depends how much bloatware will be installed, but this bloatware means profit for some. So i dont know, 30k antutu isnt much of a diffrence if you look at Sn810 having 77k antutu.

Either way, the G71 is a huge upgrade compared to the old Mali GPUs, so everone wins.

LG superfan, 19 Oct 2016If graphics is better than exynos it will be the best android SoCIf I've learnt anything about Huawei SoCs its that they skimp out on GPU power. This'll probably be the most ambitous GPU wise from their end but I doubt it'll match what Sammy would put in a flagship Exynos SoC. Especially if the Sammy-AMD/Nvidia rumours are true.

However, Apple achieved ~150 % performance in A10 over their last generation A9 (Have to admire Apple H/W engineers here). SD 830 wont surpass A10 next year, definitely not with CPU power atleast (may expect relatively similar GPU performance though).
Truth be accepted, Apple has best SOC this and next year too. The dream phone for now may be iphone running Nougat!! :P

There is a interesting catch to follow. Snapdragon 820 was the best soc till A10 came out, but in january or february 830 will be announced and snappy should get back to first position. Overall seeing back Iphone should evolve with soc in 2018 and not before. probabaly with soc a11 or so. Till then Snap will again prevail so in sort of speaking Apple has best soc for only 6 months per 2 year. Kirin with this 960 should score around 160k, because they upped GPU which automatically gives them bit of edge. Kirin 955 with same gpu as exynose have should score 130k easily, but they didnt use good gpu. Kirin 960 will rectify thaat. Mate 9 should be good phone.
