Anonymous, 09 Dec 2016Who knows how to change the imei?It involves rooting and a few shady sideloading apps, bit it can be done. But I don't know if it's doable on a Note7, given that isn't widespread enough to developers. Maybe someone haves a bootloader's unlocker, maybe not.

              I HAVE A DREAM

              I dream on a CyanogenMod for Note7!
I dream on a service of battery swapping for a smaller one!
I dream on a service that mods Note7s to turn them into Battery-replaceable phones.

              Am I the only dreamer?

Good. What a bad phone it was. Hardly an update over Note 5 which in turn was actually a downgrade compared to Note 4. I just hope that the Note Series would be retired it's turned to sh** by Samsung long ago.

Optional, 09 Dec 2016The whole "blowing up" thing is just another media poly. It... moreThe "Blowing up" wasn't a "poly" as you call it, nor a ploy. It became a big issue because it affected a far higher percentage of sold devices to just be called a defect. (It has even been shown that it was a manufacturing mistake, they didn't give enough room for the li-ion battery to expand, and left a nice angled surface nearby to puncture it when it did)...There's also been cases where technically the battery did practically "Blow up" and not just catch fire, it depended on the size of the reaction that occurred when the battery was punctured.

Samsung messed up, quite bad. People may own the device, but Samsung still owns the problem. Therefore, they decided to make the devices useless. This is in line with the many carriers and companies dropping and banning the device. If you decide to keep your Note 7, change the IMEI, stop updates, etc....and it decides to catch fire...you are now the owner of that issue, you cannot blame Samsung, you are responsible.
