all note 7 users should disable all automatic updates. also, they should change the imei.

I am wondering who really owns one's phone: Samsung or your good self? This reminds when amazon remotely deleted ebooks from customers kindles without customers permission, but in this case it's even much worse by disabling and "bricking" the whole unit. I believe the owner of the device should take responsibility of whether or not to return or exchange the item or keep it even if it was defective

The whole "blowing up" thing is just another media poly. It set itself on fire and theres no real explosion.... Happened to plenty of other phones before it....general public these days are so hopelessly stuipd. I just feel sorry for those whole imported their phone and cant get an exchange.

They should have done this quietly before releasing this update plan. Then the users may have no time to escape the update, right?

I believe that most of people who have kept this phone found a way to disable all updates, including such ridiculous ones as charge limit and constant notifications about a need of returning device to Samsung.. So we're left with blocking IMEIs but I don't know how beneficial that would be either as at least theoretically it's possible to change device's IMEI. I don't defend kamikazes although I find this whole situation very interesting.

285,000 Note7 left still unreturned. Pretty good job by Samsung at getting all of those back. Some insane people might want to keep it as collectible. But I can assure you it will be unvaluable item that nobody wants. Not even Sammy fans. Unwanted technology are equal to trash. No value even if you keep it for years hoping it to become some sort of antiques. Go ahead and try to sell your old Nokia phone and see if it have any value now and you will see what i mean.

Note 7 keeps blowing up and is on the new continuously. Once it got discontinued and with still hundreds of thousands of units with a high chance of "blowing up" in the public. So why is their not at least one more news of a burning or blowing up Note 7?

good move! Make sure no Note7 is working even as a WiFi device! Samsung ask you to return, please return for your safety of your families, friends, relatives and strangers. We need to do our part to ensure safety is enforce, it just a bloody phone, get a Note5/s7e for replacement and upgrade to Note8 next year if they have.
Samsung find a way to prevent Note7 from rooting, lock up all bootloader in those nom return Note7 and force OTA. We need to end Note7 even from booting up by the end of 2016.
