My Nexus 4 runs 7.1.1 just fine. Custom ROMs will probably be able to keep the device alive for another year. My fear is Android is now going 64-bit, and staying that way.

The truth of it all comes down to Google now making their own hardware so they would prefer to outdate your phone OS so you can buy a new pixel every 2 years. basically playing Apples game (in their case they get updates, but makes the device unusable lol) the days of going for a nexus /pixel for long term OS updates are over.

I dont know why, but some people feel their phone is better than others primarily because they had the latest update. I just dont get that mentality

The power that nexus and pixel had over others, are over. Yeah you get the newest OS for a year or two, and then it's new phone time. Nah, just buy the better phones for the same price.

It's like battery life and prolonged use doesn't count. Smartphone still have a ways to go before software updates reach the performance consistency of PC's.

So... sadly, the Snapdragon 805 is being left out by Google Nougat...
And that confirms that Android Nougat will be official only on 64 bit based processors.

Since I updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 10, it became laggy as hell. iOS 8 was smoother for the iPhone 5. iOS 9 makes my iPhone 5 keeps having wifi dropouts. iOS 10 fix this, but like I said, it is very laggy.

Lame! Why spend money on a half-decent handset only to be dumped after one major upgrade even though hardware is more than capable? It's not just Google that does it (I'm looking at you Samsung - the S3 got very little love as a flagship)! There really needs to be something done to make upgrading handsets to latest Android revisions easier.
