It turns out that the Motorola Nexus 6 and HTC Nexus 9 are getting the cold shoulder on the Android 7.1.2 update. So much has been confirmed to DroidLife by someone from Google.

Wow, good job google. Nexus 6 from late 2014 doesn't get latest update while iPhone 5 from late 2012 still does get the lastest firmware and runs pretty smooth on it (and I can say that because I used on until I upgraded in last November)

No one's stopping the owners from rooting and romming them though.

Too bad that an update with only optimizations and bug fixes doesn't make it to those 2 devices. Would have been understandable if to had been a bigger update with new features.
Still good for other devices to get a smoother experience from android.
