I couldn't find a silver Pixel at any Best Buy I went to. Google Store is always sold out. Almost like trying to buy an NES: Classic Edition or Nintendo Switch. I lucked out getting the last silver Pixel at a local Verizon Store.
Same thing happened with the Nexus One. That sold only 135K. The Pixel is the first phone completely branded by Google. They are just trying to get their feet wet with selling hardware that says made by Google. I basically wanted a Pixel because I knew how hard it is to find one in stock.
By Pixel 3 or 4, it should sell far better with more production units available once Google knows how to get inventory estimates right. Remember, the first iPhone sold the least and was offered by only one carrier in the US. The first Gphone is just following the footsteps of the first iPhone and Nexus.
Catch one if you can. Worth it. Trust me. 7/10 in design. 10/10 in usability.

Rex Tech, 30 Mar 2017Sold/Shipped to the shops who ordered the phone,it depends ... moreat least Pixel is available where you are living...where I am, in Romania(which is still in Europe, even in the European Union), it has come in January this year, many stores don't have it...and at the ones that have it kept the same prices like in January: Pixel 32GB is 940 USD , Pixel XL 32GB is 1180 USD... iPhone 7 32GB is 770 USD, 7 plus 32GB is 920 USD....this is crazy, 7 plus is cheaper than Pixel and it's an iPhone.

This is why Pixel line is a disaster in comparison with what Samsung and Apple is doing(selling 2M pre-orders in the first day, even less time), if Pixels would have been available everywhere in the same exact day like iPhones, then the sales would have been as big as 10M, Pixel is a great phone, but Google is shooting itself in the foot like usual:"Even more so is the fact that the Pixels are supposedly available in just a handful of countries, and in reality not even there most of the time. So perhaps given those constraints it's a small miracle that Google was actually able to sell more than two million of them."

Sold/Shipped to the shops who ordered the phone,it depends on the shops if consumers bought them.Here i see over 15 stores per city having 10-20 Pixels in them atm,nobody is buying it.If a small country has like 4500 phones ordered it doesn't mean they are all sold.Now imagine bigger countries ordering more than 10k pixels in their stores.Yeah Google has sold 2 M units,but not to real customer users.
From these 2 M,around 20% or less were sold on pre-orders online as well.

Such a poor sale and they are happy.. Xiaomi sold 100milion redmi note 3 in India.. Just to give you an idea.. Can't compete with the s8

From the title I understand that Google sold 2.1 milion to consumers, whom the article that HTC shipped 2.1 million to Google, which are two very very different things.
So how it is?

Note7 owner, 29 Mar 2017Samsung will probably sell that many Galaxy S8 in an hour. Lol Ya. But its mainstream job for samsung... google has many other thinks to do... if google really wanted they could ve done lot better... they are just testing the waters now... so dont compare
