04 April 2017

Not because of people harping about the xzp screen as was claimed

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2017Yeah that's actually a much smaller amount of the commentscomments still increasing but Samsung's display is still superior despite the small difference. :)

Another day, another set of accusations against testers. Guys, where is the proof, the paper trail, the evidence to your claims?

Show evidence (it's your job to present it - don't make anyone find YOUR evidence), otherwise accusation is false. Simple.

AnonD-270570, 06 Apr 2017People like the implementation actually and they are using ... moreIt's trash, 3 years in a row and never managed to turn into a household product. Truly revolutionary products do that, VR is a truly revolutionary idea done poorly.

It's like giving you oil telling you how amazing it is , how much power you can generate from it, allowing you to live a life of relative leisure, yet you only use it to insulate your home's roof (real, historical example btw; people did not realize the power of oil for centuries).

Terrible uses can make a great idea seem bad. Don't throw at me that Samsung is "first", she's a first into a tiny market that she actually holds back through her patents. It's a hindrance and a societal ill (any company that does that btw) and every day I pray that someone (an outsider possibly) would break this vicious cycle of mediocrity that has beset into the VR market.

Supporting (in everything she does!) a bad company is a borderline unethical position to hold. Beware.

NO OTHER COMPANY COULD BROUGHT VR to smartphones as amazingly as Samsung did, same about fast wireless charging. Never compare Samsung with Nokia. Nokia was fooling people. Even during the peak years of Nokia, smart people were buying amazing phones from Sony Ericsson. Well I'm one of them. If there's a company which is really bringing the latest and greatest tech with the best experience to smartphones today then it's Samsung. People keep praising pixel, lg etc but the buyers who really spend money are going for these amazing Samsung phones because they really use them and know how amazing it is.

And like I said. You'll have to at least take a break. And not all movies are 3h+

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2017Yup. No other company with good, bad, and everything in bet... moreNo company has ever given any of her *good* products *ever* ... you're right.

They mostly give struggling products for free so that let people give them a chance. But enough chance was given to Samsung VR and it s*cks. The culprit of course is mostly the phone itself. It used to overheat early on, possibly the worst screen door effect in VR history, low resolution, low FPS, low FoV.

Not only that, for 4 generation they did very little to solve any of the issues. Actually between S7 and s8 they did *nothing*. Which is why I speculate that Samsung dropped VR and merely wait for a low sale quarter before dropping it officially.

It's funny too, because Nokia did the same with smartphones and look what happened to them. They started the race, failed to do them well and pretty much died. Nowadays they merely try to catch up in their resurrected form.

Samsung awaits a similar fate? Possibly, mistakes and lack of vision are paid dearly in any given industry.

Gear VR innovator edition was custom-made for Note 4 and Note Edge.
By the time S6 rolled over there was a heated conversation on the net on whether Note 4 was maybe better for VR anyway because of the bigger screen and because it was the only established VR player at the time.

I'm actually the VR industry pretty closely for 5 years now. Apparently you don't.

And it's actually 3 generations and 2 years...or about to be. Not even fully there just yet.
It started with the S6. The two year third generation s8 is not released yet.

And it has advanced. What were they supposed to do? Slap a 4k display on the s7 that would have over heated and brought the graphics to a crawl?????

Upon entering the "half a decade" mark in IT it's not "first stages", it's a missed opportunity. By now we should have been having a maturing mobile VR industry.

The only reason that we don't is Samsung (and similar players) f*cking around. No 4k RGB for the longeSt time, no high FPS, no bigger FoV (fov is almost stuck for as long as I rememher it) ... and w bad hardware of course comes bad software, I mean no wonder, none of the big players took it seriously given how unserious the hardware was/is

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2017Nothing you said makes any senseWhat part of Samsung VR being a horrible product doesn't you understand?

The pixelated picture that is spoonfed to us for years?
The screen door effect that is kept at its worse by the terrible pentile arrangement?
Or the reluctance of Samsung to create a good VR viewing experience by specifically marketing movie/series watchers at first?

What about the creation of demos that are only useful to bamboozle us but actually gives us even more how bad mobile VR still is (bad gpus, loads of latency, battery eater, terrible viewability in both FoV terms and image quality terms).

It's not hard to understand: Samsung strategically chose to give up on VR and that should worry us. Before Apple , only BlackBerry was seriously working w smartphones, the rest had basically given up w as a result living in a disconnected world filled w dumbphones, despite the fact that the hardware was there (for the mobile revolution) since early 2000s.

We basically lose several (many) years of technological development because of that. It's terrible

Think man, *think*. No way would a good product be given away, it would be seeing by the millions.

VR has greater capacity to transform the world than smartphones had. If your best attempt I'd to make a joke that people look at ti and laugh then you failed, it's just that.

Again, what other s do is a "red herring": before iphone Smartphones s*cked in sales, after the iPhone it became the biggest industry in market capitalization ever and created the biggest companies in history (current apple is almost a trillion company, Google is more than half trillion). All because people *always* wanted to take their computer with them.

Similarly people want to be immersed to alien words, but they choose not to because current iterations are bad. When they would actually become good you'd know it because a bigger industry than the smartphones' would be created. Samsung is definitely one of the culprits , a bit oF how Nokia was *actually* keeping smartphones back despite building some of the best back then. It's possible to be best and still s*ck (because your product is made fun of).

The market chooses what is good, and they chose that Samsung VR is a parody of itself, Samsung then chose that they don't care and by keeping the patents of an excellent viewer like the gear VR the only ensure that nobody else would take their cake .
