The bigger model in the company's flagship duo is now almost as desired as the smaller one.

I don't get why Sony even bothered to bring it back on a mobile device what a nutty company. And 6GB is just straight up overkill, people are too spoiled by cheap and over-specced Chinese phones these days.

"Samsung is allegedly preparing 20 million S8 and S8+ units for the launch that will happen later this month. That's apparently double the volume made available for the S7 duo's arrival last year." Oh man the S8 Duo has a great chance of beating the S7 Duo in sales, may even come really close to the very popular S3 and S4 sales numbers a few years back.

They were always going to put a battery in the S8 that fit comfortably and was not pushing the boundaries. 4K screen is just not required at this screen size, why put that in and compromise performance and battery life for something that you will not notice? 6GB Ram? Is android really that bad? I have an iPhone 7 Plus with 3GB and cannot think why I would need any more

Your needs are different from mine by the sound of it, As a Note user I expect top of the range of everything in the Note,Hence a power user or business productivity user, The S8's are aesthetically beautiful but they won't attract the business/ power Note user I think.

90 degrees, 06 Apr 2017I don't really understand your logic? As a former Note ... moreEveryone has different needs. For me the only real reason to upgrade my GN4 is the camera.
The GN4 still has pluses the S8 doesn't (removable battery, grippy back that isn't fingerprint prone, more robust etc)

In relation to your other points for my use.
I never use an Spen so don't reallycare about it.
I doubt 6GB will make any noticeable difference to the phone performance.
4000 mAh would be better. I still worry about sealed batteries degrading (have replaced the GN4 battery 2 times).
PPI is just the latest silly tech race (except if you use VR). 500ppi is ample for every other application.
£780 is up there but isn't a factor in my purchase.

AnonD-77443, 06 Apr 2017It's no surprise that the S8+ has high demand. A lot of ... moreI don't really understand your logic?

As a former Note 7 purchaser, You quite rightly said that all us Note 7 former purchasers were looking towards the S8+ to fill our empty pockets.

Samsung in my opinion haven't done enough to make me want to buy it or waste my money on it, The S8+ could/ should have had an SPen, It should have had 6GB RAM minimum. A 4000Mah battery wouldn't have gone amiss either.Lastly the screen has less PPIs than S7 edge! It should have had a 4k screen.

For the price of £780 all those things should have been there.

I won't spend my money on something which I believe isn't as good to replace what I'm missing. The fact that yet again Samsung seems to discriminate anyone outside of China by not giving us a 6GB RAM phone stinks and is another reason I won't settle for less.I shall be waiting for the Note 8.

Tiny battery that one couldn't swap, no storage options, less ram than cheap Taiwanese phones. Excellent SoC though and good looks (IMO it's not very relevant though), the camera was fine too.

*But* you lose the removable battery, the S-Pen, the IR blaster.
You may you use none, still they're very useful features that you can decide at any point to start using them. Not having them actually *ensures* not using them though. S8+ is a poorer phones in actual options.

I would obviously prefer the S8+ like the S7 edge, mainly for it's unproportionally bigger battery than it's marginally bigger screen over it's smaller siblings.

Joselius, 06 Apr 2017Just a camera test. So?Thats unknown imx of S8, which looks to provide same results as the one in S7, vs new imx400 in XZs/XZ premium, which dont use same sensors as S8.
Just wanted to point that out.
