The bigger model in the company's flagship duo is now almost as desired as the smaller one.

Samsung doesnt care for being courted for it.
Heck, they spend over 10 bill on marketing and get fines for false that are less than 5% of that sum.
So they keep doing it.

    They were found guilty indeed.

Making profit is the main point. You make it sound like no business ever should make profit so we can buy everything cheap. Thats not how the world works.

Never trust your money into a company that uses obvious false marketing to make more profit.
Its an advice, thats all. Note7 pun intended.

But Buy what you want tho, its your money.

AnonD-77443, 06 Apr 2017The S8+ should be better than the GN7 (which was great). ... moreThe camera sensor is actually new. Its specs may be the same as S7 but it is now using IMX333 sensor that would be used in the unreleased Sony Xperia XZ Premium. Not having a dual camera wont be a deal breaker. The real flagship that setting the standard here is the Note series. Everything new should be introduced in Note series. Korean analysts also confirmed that the bezel-less displays are profitable for Samsung and the company doesnt need to rush products that aren't ready. Samsung itself even said that, "When the demand for bezel-free handsets slows down, Samsung will unveil the foldable display as the next card". This shows that Samsung knows how to keep a hidden card so they can bring it out when the time comes. You can only expect new things when the old things dies out.

This is the first Galaxy phone since the S5 that I really hope doesnt sell, because it doesnt deserve to. I hope people dont get swayed just by the looks.

If you were in the marketing team and have a discussion with them what do you think the team leader would ask. He would ask, "How are we going to market and attract customers to buy our product?". Naturally, they would suggest using the media as the easiest and fastest way to get attention. I wouldnt call it report stunts. Throwing in reports and data and even official statements by Samsung. The media took the bait and released articles about it. Its a marketing tactics that simply work. How else would you want to get the whole world attention using marketing? Simply using tv ads, banners, and billboard wont get you customers. What exactly would you call an honest marketing? Handling out flyers and say, "Please buy our phone"?

                  Same old marketing stunt.

Joselius, 06 Apr 2017If marketing were honest, nothing would sell. Thats true. But I see only Samsung keep using this report stunts.
Really have no idea why this company has as much followers.
But on sales numbers, I bet ya, 50-70% of flagship sales are to corporate officials, and 40-30% to actuall common people ready to belt out all that money (dont kno why tho).

meaning S7 duo sold less than S6 duo, that sold less than S5,...
But reports from "unknown resources" keep telling us every year "the demand" is even higher than last year, which was said for S7 also, and S6 also...

And S8 duo being most expensive duo of smartphones out there.... 985$ and 1225$ respectively.. .
... I just cant see the logica realiability in this south korean source.

Joselius, 06 Apr 2017Hey, you all seem to forgot this is the S series not Note s... moreI was responding to the guy who wanted to "upgrade" from Note 4, not generally speaking.

Having said that s8 is nowhere near the levels of excellence that past Samsung products had reached in their times. The hype is greater because Samsung has a greater capitalization (and customer base), but the quality is lower ... it happens all the time btw.

When the original iphone was released few Apple faithfuls and certain tech geeks were enthusiastic about it. Most would find to it all sorts of (minor by now) faults. Yet it was the biggest jump in phone technology (hardware+software) since ... ever and despite that you'd see iphone 7 (which is at most an evolutionary release) getting all the hype.

Apple is far from her hey day... the hype always seems reactive, i.e. a great product is released, goes relatively unnoticed and then a few years down the road hype is generated as a response to *that* product yet appropriated to the wrong one. Samsung peaked with S4/Note 4 ... since then it's all downhill, yet most don't realize... (not now, not then)

Don't worry it's home button still work like physical home button. It's not touch like other on screen button phones. You need to press it and it'll respond similarly to a physical button.

It might bring back physical home button and repositioning of fingerprint sensor that everyone so dreaded about. Plus, a bigger battery. ;-)
