Polius, 04 May 2017Under clocked? Im pretty sure a lot of Sony fans bragging t... moreFirst thing the difference in benchmark scores is not much.
Second thing these benchmarks dont depict the actual day to day performance of the device as you can see many videos on YouTube where sony's xperia xzs with sd820 which is more than an year old processor beats the crap out of s8 with sd835!

Its all about optimisation and sony's optimization is the best besides Google.

Anonymous, 04 May 2017Wait till the phone is out then talk buddy Excuse me? Isnt the Sony diehard fans the one that doesnt seem able to stop babbling about how awesome their precious XZ Premium. Lol. Yeah, this article is a sign for you all to shut up and wait till it actually released. I said this many time but the fanboy keep bragging and bragging about their unofficial and unreleased phone.

Im pretty sure a lot of Sony fans bragging to me that their XZ Premium would have higher clock speed than S8. So, what happened to that? Now, all of a sudden XZP become a mediocre smartphone with lower clock speed.

Benchmark rests like gfx are good only for comparison between say, sd660 and sd835. All sd835 phones will have different scores... +-5%. This score is also 3.5% less than S8. .. Not a big difference, Mr author. maybe it's psychological that one is in 5k range and other in 6k.
For example even if a pixel or Nexus score lower on gfx or Geekbench, it'll be more fluid than galaxy everyone knows. the only logical purpose of these Ben marks are
1)if you want to compare two processors (in one OS)
                    2) if you want to compare two phones with same processor but different screen resolution, then on screen frame rates.

Benchmarks don't really mean much in relation to the user experience.
All high end phones are super quick nowadays... a few fractions of a second don't mean much.

                          Yeah, you're right
                          Numbers are numbers
XZs with 200 points less than the S8/S8+'s single core score, can eventually be faster than the twins. It's about how that processor is fully utilized, and if this was indeed an underclocked SD835, Sony just made a nice decision in favor of battery life because that processor is so powerful enough that the extra power must be saved instead of being wasted, alloted for the extra battery stamina

Can't wait to see this, but I'm still betting on what they will bring at IFA 2017

I would sure hope pushing a phone with over 800 pixels would dampen the score a bit..silly silly silly. Everyone knows Samsung cheats with software designed for Benchmarking..real world difference Sony has one of the leanest closes to stock Roms out there

scores can be different for the same phone depending on many things ... room temperature alone can have big impact on the benchmark score .

Well, yes. It could be that Sony has under-clocked the SD835 to improve slightly more the battery draining and to compensate a little bit more for the 4K display. But yes it could be as well that it was benchmarked with a pre-production software, etc. Let's eventually see.
