18 April, 2011
Isn't smartphone evolution just wonderful? We've only just arrived at the dual-core stages of the mobile evolution and we are just about to witness another huge leap forward. Samsung has just revealed...

samsung engineer, 19 Apr 2011you guys know nothing about processors . even if you have ... moreYes very much so. Even the phones like Nokia 5800 use only a little part of their potential while playing a game. Phones don't usually use the full potential even in web browsing. They just use it momentarily to load things faster or so.

Phones are not by definition entertainment devices. We all know that.

Who needs 2ghz dual core processor for phones? Pc's and video game consoles have some uses just like my ps3 and core I7 alienware laptop but for phones seriously, no thanks. And i bet the phones will get overheated so easily it will get destroyed in a second. Ha ha ha they need a fan or hydro cooler to cooldown the processor for phones..

For people who says that the phone is only for calling and short message sending and there is no need for powerful CPU:
We are talking not about PHONES, we are talking about a SMARTPHONES!

Don't really care who is bringing out what. I just want a great blend of power, performance, which is then balanced by great battery life, and reliability.

Any company that brings this, will get the customers.

Faster clock has always been on the cards.. good to know the hardware dept is being taken care of.. it'd be nice if the user had the choice of os.. and great to see Samsung leading the way. I wish to work for them someday. Great job Gsmarena (as usual).

Optimum is the key. But what they're talking about is excessive.
They're not trying to produce what's best but what's impressive and attractive and what will sell.
Then should be talking instead about dual-core, quad core batteries, whatever that is.

you guys know nothing about processors .
even if you have a 5 ghz phone , your phone will use only 200mghz for normal use so it won't affect the battery life unless you play some super 3D games all day long.

the speed is not related only to how many megaherz you have in your phone, but the architecture of the processor, how it' s mounted and how it 's cooled down.etc

Too power hungry. User should keep multiple battery. The phone with such processor may not be a Camera phone. Camera user may be unhappy.
Already android mobile users facing short battery life problem. And with this processor the battery life will be upto 3-4 hrs. Samsung should bring 5000mAh battery for this processor but then also battery life will be near 8-10 hrs.. If they won't make improvement in battery life then they provide multiple battery option to the phone with such processor (nonsence/idiot move) and Then no smartphone will be out there from samsung, only Tab sized or tab phones and big screened, big sized UGLY-phone. Now only their phone design is ugly with large display size. user must keep a carry bag to carry it. But thanks for thinner size.
They should bring improvement in battery life, viewing angle of display ( with new tech display is a more power consuming part). Then the phones with such processor will take the market.
Now u do 1 thing & it's with battery. Just enough with processor, ram (2gb), display size.

I think smsng wil bring 5000A battery 4 dis processor & battery life wil b 8-10 hrs.. Instead dis proc dvlpmnt they must make dvlpmnt in battery, display & den phones wid such proc wil hav better market. If they were failed 2 give good battery life 2 their phones den they'll include dual battery.. & then no smartphones will be out der frm samsung only ugly tab & also bigger UGLY-PHONES. Now only their phone design is very ugly wid big screen ( but better 1 thing they're bit thin) den user must maintain a bag to carry it.
Now u do 1 thing & that's wid battery life. It's enough with processor, rom (2gb), screen size. Include flash light.

                                      well, actually not very obvious.
how many smartphone manufacturers out there can confidently say this?
none but Samsung. No other company is near what the Samsung is capable of when it comes to micro hardware design and development. Don't even try to compare with Apple which has all their resources in manufacturing a single phone a year. On top of that, many of core parts in Iphone are made by Samsung (http://www.itechdiary.com/iphone-4-designed-in-california-with-parts-from-korea.html). You don't just stick few chips into a device to complete a phone. 2GHz * 2 would mean the entire hardware platform needs to change including the most difficult, power and temperature management while keeping the "thinner than the soon coming galaxy s2 (9mm)" standards.
People who say "processor speed doesn't mean anything" are just ignorant. They truly don't know what they're talking about.
Bill Gates once said "640k ought to be enough for anybody" in 1981.

People should unstuck their mind set in the present and appreciate the technology advances that are being made. Who wouldn't benefit from things getting done faster?

These will be standards of mobile devices sooner or later... hell, the standard could even be 2GHz Quad-core. You can keep saying "optimize the OS and it will all be smooth"... N8 is the perfect example of relying too much on optimization and not enough on hardware. Web browsing speed is ATROCIOUS. Imagine N8 with a 1GHz at least... think about how much better the experience could be.

These are advances we should appreciate, not discourage.
