too bad, in the realm of 'luxury' these days, people prefer to 'communicate' with digital servers rather than the human touch... concierge, human touch, is what defines luxury... workmanship plays another role...
and yes, I have a second phone, an Aquos Xx, and people do still ask me (if) Sharp (ever) make (made) smartphones...
worst are those XiaoMi Mi Mix or whatever mix users coming to slam me on who-copy-who, when clearly my Aquos was made in 2015 but received no awards or recognition, many don't even know it existed... they'll then hit me hard with specifications, but changes their smartphones every couple of months... seriously, what the hell is that, (keep changing) to keep up with times..?

Easily understandable as a digital butler.. Not robotic and limited like Siri and other AI assistant.. With a touch of a button the vertu will connect you to a human operator who will answer whatever request you have, order a meal, book a movie ticket, airline ticket, concert ticket, hotel booking, send a chauffeur, and the list goes on and on.. Just one call and it's done.. Much faster than any smartphone app.. That is why the vertu does not need to be a smartphone.. A normal person with normal salary will never understand and can only imagine

Vertu is properly premium & elegant, but it needs to keep up with the latest specs of current flagship smartphones.

you all ignorants. If you ever had a phone like that, youlkl shall know the features on that device .... even concierge.... can you believe that besides works everywhere you go literally, is like satellite device made cellular size. do your homework.

For a classy phone, some of these designs are not so classy at all.
For the discerning eye, simple elegance is missing and over glitz. There are a few models that look nice.
All the best. Hope it works out for you however phones do not last as long as these covers and skins.

TCL builds Alcatel and BB phones... and now Vertu.
In numbers: 10 (Alcatel) + 0 (BB) + 2 (Vertu) = 12 Phones a year
so... Why is this news?
Phones made by Alcatel are like cars made by Talbot. Nobody does remeber them. BB is a dead man walking and Vertu builds not just the most expensive but also the most ugly phones in the world. 3 totally obsolete brands!

Interesting choice of locations to list ... UK, France & Western Europe. Like if UK and France are in the East or what ...
Also, I'm pretty sure that it'll be available in more EU countries which are not listed and not in the west (Scandinavia, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, etc.?)
