Me too,I can only agree with Peter.
They took the easy route,have bumped the price too much and done too little.

    I want 16Gb of ram in oneplus 6 :)

      I will go for HTC u 11 and better waiting for Nokia flagship LG g6 is also good choice

        OnePlus 5 specs are fine, but no water resistant. But the price have going up a lot also so this time I went for a Vernee Mars Pro (just announced) Of course not same flagship specs as OnePlus with Snapdragon 835, But enough with 6GB Ram+64GB Rom, MediaTek Helio P25 and you can expand the memory with a micro SD card. Priced around $200.
        I am not sure how OnePlus will going further. The pricing now are close to LG G6 and so on and that device are water/dust proof. Carl Pei and the other at the company are good on PR. But how much are customers ready to pay for it?

          I am with Peter!

            Mistakes they made with Oneplus 2 is repeating again with Oneplus 5 ofcourse in different manner but the key here is that they failed at basics then, and they failed at basics now.

                  The only major difference of op5 only its ram become 8 gigs. The rest? Only copy paste from the other flagship brand like back design with its dual cameras compared iphone7plus. Just like oppo r11 did. It looks obviously make sense because op and oppo under the same company. Thr next op6 will be have 10 gigs of ram. And op will be known as the smartphone brand that have the biggest ram ever on the market only. Nothing more.

                    Agree with most. Look of the phone and their support for older phone is terrible. OP2 will not get Nougat update. Such a let down.

Westerner are not the only one more educated... Please don't think only westerner know about technology... I dont understand why westerner thought only they know about technology while the technology mostly come from places other than western..

                          Yeah, Peter's opinions are in line with my own.
                          I think OnePlus took the easy way rather than the "innovative way".

                          Easy way: pretty up the design a bit, simply slapped in a QSD 835, and pumped up the RAM.
                          Then they put an easy (but expensive) dual-camera's in the back to appease the Common Man, and also the Chinese Local's (the major market) who see the hardware but don't read professional reviews of the results. The Silver Lining is that third-party modders may be able to hack the camera drivers of the 5, and make it capture photos much better than it is capable now. The hardware is great, the software stack is bad, results are meh... with some hacking it might be possible to get much better photos; like the improvements made to the Nexus One camera stack from the HTC Desire hack. Although this should NOT be a selling point. But in first impressions, the Chinese buyers will be happy with the 5.

                          That's why OnePlus 5 will be more successful than the OnePlus 3... it appeases the Chinese, who are largest buyers of OnePlus phones. However, it doesn't please the Westerners, the more educated/geeky crowd responsible for picking the company off the floor and making it a success, so this really is a turning point in the company.

                          I mean how could the reverse (please Westerners) have been done?
                          Regress some specs: Single camera, non-iPhone looks, lowly 4GB RAM, 64GB storage.
                          Improve some specs: Front-facing stereo speakers, Slimmed bezels to 75% StB, Ingress/water resistance-proofing, microSD slot.
                          Big Impact: Keep the price at a modest US$449.

                          However the BIGGEST improvement with the OnePlus 5 that no-one mentions is their GSM Frequency support. It now works in many carriers all over the world, where the OnePlus, 3, and 3T couldn't work on mine so it was disqualified from my choice list even if I wanted one.

                            Peter nailed it. Plus the iPhone copycat design you wouldn't want to be caught dead with.
