Z5 is 2 y.o already.
Z3+ is 2.5 y.o ...
If Z5 gets 8.0, Z3+ owners will complain because both have same cpu.
Z3+ : 5.0.1 , 6.0, 6.0.1, 7.0, 7.1.1
Z5 : 5.1.1, 6.0, 6.0.1, 7.0, 7.1.1

I am so disappointed with my Z5 compact… I bought it because of the long term support and at the end I will end up with hot potato device out of the update table, which I can’t use more than 10 minutes…
Shame on you Sony… Next time no Sony for sure!

XZ premium, XZs, XZ1, XZ1 compact - All have same RAM-buffered camera sensor. How can you tell that RAM-buffered camera is not really a requirement if XZ premium gets XZ1 features?

Z5 Premium has already received Nougat update officially, and so are the Z3+, Z5, Z5 Compact, XA, and XA Ultra.
Haven't received it yet? Blame your region or your carrier, 'cause Sony devices here in the Philippines that are found in mobile stores are already running it.
The XA and XA Ultra might not have been mentioned yet, but given the hardware, it's safe to say that it'll receive the update as well.
Considering, the J5 2016 of Samsung, the XA's counterpart competitor, will just get Nougat at the end of 2017, while the XA is soon to get Oreo already.
And if you really want an upgrade on your device, you yourself, on behalf of becoming a wise Android phone user, would simply find some custom ROMs at XDA or somewhere else to have the latest and greatest OS on your devices even before the manufacturer of your phone provides it officially on your device.
I consider Android users as the "real SMART smartphone users" for the level of their capability to do things.
The thing is, many of them are just stupid, just like the complainees below this comment.

OnePlus even refuse to update their phones for 2 years because they know that there are custom ROMs that will surely do the job of any future Android OS beyond the 2-year support.
And those people? I haven't seen them at all.
At least not that they're everywhere, but they are right and they have a point.
The thing is, most of you just don't wanna dig things deeper than what's seen.

I'd rather have ugly yet functional and stable, smooth, fast, simple, fast, responsive, and guaranteed software support for a very long time than your mediocre piece of cr*p.
Your Android O on your China phone must be replaced with Android 0 - yeah, means it'll never reach your device.
Why? Cause the phone is Chinese and the user of it is an uneducates one lol.

Sony is yet to provide 7.1.1 for Z5 Premium in US and we have a list of Android O
which will hit the devices after the announcement of Android P by google ...
and Sony continues to call it a flagship phone .. disappointing

No Vulkan? "It's fine. No one needs that. You can't tell the difference".
No Android Wear 2.0 update for a device that is eligible? "It's fine. It works and it's old anyway. It didn't sell like hot cakes".
Poor camera performance compared to the competition? "They make the best sensors and my phone takes great photos. I don't care what the reviewers say. My camera has the highest megapixels!!!11".
Missing features? "No one uses them anyway. We don't need them. It works well enough".
These guys are the biggest apologists one has ever seen. These are just a handful of examples of the reality distortion field that exists in the community.
What about Nexus 5X? Use your brain before commenting!
