the bezels are fine if i may say. i have been using xperia xa for months now and it's a pain to use it while you are lying in bed. bezeless phones sure looks cool but not practical.

The phone is great but the price is not.

asking too much for a cheap 4.7 720P screen phone is not acceptable even if it has the same hardware of the flagship.

this phone should be $500 max

whats inside has nothing to do with the bezel .. they can put a larger screen over the same Area and keep the inside intact.

Can't stand the ugly square flat look of the Sony mobiles. Can some make a 4.7 compact with Snapdragon 660 please.

Battery life should be really interesting

            Xperia Z3 3100mAh = 85hrs
            Xperia Z3 Compact 2600 mAh = 100hrs

            Xperia XZ1 2700mAh = 82 hrs
            Xperia XZ1 Compact 2700 mAh = ??? hrs

Might be over 100 hrs again if Z3 Compact can achieve 100 hrs with 28nm CPU/GPU and 100mAh less in battery compacity

                1. the front and rear cameras.
                2. the stereo speakers.
                3. the fingerprint scanner on the power button.
All these components occupy space in the phone. If you look at the tear down you will see that it is really cramped inside.
All you care is the bezels. *sigh*

                  4.6" 16:9 is probably bigger than 5" 18:9 ..

Of course phone would be smaller.

That orange-copper is totally awesome, much better than that turdbrown-copper that was rumored for the new iPhones (but gladly not released. That horrible notch is ugly enough already.)
Too bad this "Compact" one is way too tiny. They need to put this orange-copper on their Ultra phones, add a fingerprint scanner and a decently sized battery - instant buy! Bezel or not.

What is the point of giant chins if they are not at least be used (for pysicak buttons). The screens is far smaller than it needs to be (due to the unseemly bezels) and it gets even smaller due to the soft buttons... I never understood Sony's design department. Great software developers , not knowing a thing about design.

To make things worse this is basically the same phone (externally) for the 3rd time in a row, only the internal change...

IF they did make the amazing decision to finally cut those bezels off to improve the design - the dimensions would be even smaller and small-handed people would probably appreciate that a lot. I personally don't care about small phones, though. Just saying.

Xz1 Compact is not coming to many Asian countries. No wonder Sony is losing market share. Their big phones are being clobbered by other brands. Plus the premium compact phone market is dominated by the non-plus iPhones. They should have released this to the entire Asian market so they can steal a huge chunk of the market share from Apple.

18:9 screens are fake. They are smaller. S8 screen area is smaller than S7 edge screen.
Also it is only 2 mm shorter, 600 less mAh inside battery.
