I could believe the high number of pre-orders. There are a lot of passionate iPhone users waiting to upgrade their ip6 or 6s. On the other hand, can iPhone X sustain a high enough sales number until next year is the question. In my circles, some iPhone users are hesitant about the new prices, and doesn't want to get a "low end" iPhone, then started to inquire about Android alternatives. There are of course those that already have their money out on the latest iGadget. Few are those that wants the iPhone 8, particularly the smaller one. I see iPhone X as the biggest hurdle to sell iPhone 8, and the price prevents some from getting an iPhone X. How this will translate into overall sales volume is anyone's guess right now. That is probably why Apple's stock has a downward trend since the announcement.

Looks like Apple is ripping off customers budget by raising the iPhone x price when it should just be the next gen iPhone with just the regular price as it always did in the past and the stupid iPhone 8 should never come around at all. The iPhone X should have come even earlier for you have been keeping your same old crab looking phone for 3 years in a row and when you did come new you did raise the price and add another same crap with it for the excuse of higher iPhone X price, Apple you are not as loyal to customers as they always do for u.. sh*********ttttt

pre orders will truly exceed 40 million.
ones going for iPhone x are iPhone 6 users and before. Maybe pockets of iPhone 6s users as those phones are 2 years old now, that said my friends that have the 6s versions phones still work fine on iOS 11, so unlikely they are upgrading.
Ones going for iPhone x are iPhone 6 users and before. Some android users that were originally iPhone users will head back to iPhone x. Reason why no one is too interested in in phone 8, is because it looks too similar to the iPhone 6 and the last 3 generations.
so yes it will exceed 40 million, I hope I can get my unit.

But after seeing it homing signal, digital time etc, I changed my mind... It looks okay and even more gives uniques differential from other (android) phones.
Next time when you see the cutout on someone's hand, you'll know instantly he's a classy guy, holding 1000$+ phone.

Overall, fingerprint is the best option f... moreApple could have put the fingerprint sensor on the back behind the Apple logo, and it would have been fine until the under-the-display FP sensor technology is advance enough.
Of course, people disagree on where the best placement for the FP sensor. Some say on the front, others say it's on the back. But many do agree that Samsung's placement of the FP sensor next to the camera is a dumb move, when they could have placed it lower and in the middle of the back like what LG does, so that you won't accidentally smudge the camera lens with finger sweat and oils.

Overall, fingerprint is the best option for phones because it is secure enough while being convenient.
Having said that, the best placement of Fingerprint sensor is on the bottom of the screen. And that's main reason I love some bezel, it provide space to put front FPS.
Look at HTC U11, it has snappy FPS on the front
Unlike some stupid placement of FPS in the back, and make it worse, beside camera placement.
