I upgrade my sgs GTi9000 with gingerbread 2.3.4 2weeks ago. I love DS upgrade. I was actually planning to get another android to.replace it cause the lag was so annoying and embarrassing. I used Odin 1.7 to update and now my phone is void of lags, my video interface is so much better, my multitasking abilities. is here OK, my quadrant score went up from about 700 to around 1,300, my battery does a day and a half with moderate use and nothing less than a day with heavy multitasking, tw launcher is stable now, I do yahoo messenger videos now and my speaker seems louder and clearer slightly. it seems I just got me another phone. Gingerbread 2.3.4 rocks I highly recommend it. cheers and have d technical know-how before u go ahead to upgrade. cheers.

I have an australian vodafone branded GT-I9000. Vodafone Australia is still testing Gingerbread 2.3 and they can't give a release date. I have had enough of waiting for Vodafone.

Can I upgrade my australian phone with Gingerbread 2.3.4 XXJVP?

                    My phone details:

                    Baseband version : I9000HVJP3
                    Build number : FROYO.HVJP4

I hope that it comes as fast as possible and resolves Android-System battery-usage. When phone not in use, the Android-System uses atleast 48% of the battery. When in use, 38%. That's not goot thing for me. (Have to charge my phone every night...)

I would say its not stable. I had to go back to 2.3.3 as my phone kept restarting every couple of hours and was slower.

Kies is so irritating at times, i was getting errors even after a hard reset of my phone. Finally i updated my GT-I9000 to 2.3.3 using Odin, got the ROM from samfirmware. It worked for me, but people say it can be risky if you are new to this stuff.

Gautam, 13 Jun 2011You can install 2.3.4 on your Galaxy S I9000 from here.Yeah, but I'm trying to go the safe route... I understand that i should be able to update to 2.3.3? I'm currently running on 2.2.1
From what i can see, updating via that site involves flashing the rom and other stuff that can go wrong. :)
What am i doign wrong that Kies won't let my phone update?
