If you have gallery problems, try QuickPic from the Market. IMHO it's much better than the stock gallery.
And to all the haters that nagged how Samsung is bad in supporting phones with latest Android OS, when Galaxy S first released. Those times are over! Samsung is not like Sony Ericsson or Motorola. When buying a phone just check that the phone does not have a locked bootloader and you're fine. If the manufactuer stops supporting your phone and you always want the latest OS then your best choice are handsets whithout locked bootloaders!

Samsung better get out update to Gingerbread fast. Their update to my Galaxy S in the UK, made it worse. None of the problems below happened with 2.2.1

1- It freezes and crashes frequently, almost everyday.

2- Music player stops for no apparent reason.

3- When you press the End button to terminate the phone call, the phone application goes into background but call is not terminated. You cannot access the phone application again the bar stays highlighted in green.

It is no excuse that the customers are on other networks. It is customer experience that counts and networks should sign up to that. Samsung please learn that it is customer experience that matters and look at Apple not just mimic their products.

Please instead of shipping dozens of varieties of the same product that you cannot support just concentrate on few that you can support and give customers positive experience.

not only Galaxy S which got 2.3.4 but Galaxy Ace & Fit also got the same update. It seems the global update will be rolling out soon :D

Anonymous, 11 Jun 2011i'm from ireland.will this 2.3.4 FW fit to my galaxy s from... moreThis is very unlikely to be a Vodafone Ireland firmware. It will be a manufacturer, ie Samsung, firmware for SIM free handsets.

If you are willing to risk invalidating your warranty, you could always flash the latest non-carrier firmware via Odin. I was on Vodafone UK firmwar,e but after flashing to Samsung's stock offering I am always amongst the first to receive the latest official Samsung releases via Kies as they don't have t be sent to my carrier first for customisation.

Check out samfirmware.com for help on flashing firmware with Odin and for the necessary firmware files. The latest official release for the UK (Samsung's own one available through Kies) is labelled XXJVO and is version 2.3.3.

If you choose to go down this route then you need to remember to change your handset's CSC after flashing or Kies will say it can't update your device when you use it to look for future firmware updates.
Samsung provide a multi-CSC with their own firmware. To change it type *#272*handsetimei#* into the dialler screen. Select XEU (for the UK) from the screen that appears and press install. This will also factory format the phone.

                                  Hope this helps.

people. the updates may be available but you may not be able to get the software update because your phone is locked to the network operator, they control the incoming updates and changes on your phone so it may not affect their customised control on your cellphone. Contact your network provider incase you cannot get the software update available for your phone. I did =)
