This is a segment where Android will most likley never be on par with IOS.

The main point is, that all iPhones and IOS are ruled by one company, and in Android game - there's lots of manufacturers who also put their own skins on Android to make it worse, and also chipsets and hardware are different from one to another manufacturer. It does give a consumer nice variety to pick though.

Well, it will take sometime for Pie to be included in that pie. Unless Samsung and Huawei updated their flagship phones running Oreo, that's the only time we will see it in their OS distribution chart.

It's only android devices that are always getting delayed updates after 6-12 months of a release, or most of them never receiving it at all.

What now Project Treble?i thought Oreo out of the box phones will immediately go to Android Pie just as it was intended to do. I don't get the fuss and sadness about flagships not getting Pie while that version is just only 2 months old.

                Ahh the beauty of android...

Enjoy being (at least) two OS versions behind present day. (aka ‘using an OS which is 2 years old or even older’)

Do not fret, android pie is going to be a hit! (in 2020 that is...)

Of course Samsung will bring A 2019 with Android 8.1, so they can give 9.0 in June and 10.0 in June/2020. So it ends up with 1 year of support.

If they bring it with 9.0, then they would have to give 10 and 11.

"Android is about open, not being forced by one company."

That couldn't be further from the truth. Google pulled off every trick in the book to make sure they are virtually inseparable from Android.
