Now i have 4 symbian OS mobiles, N8, N70, 6630, c5. It is awesome while compare to other Brand like samsung, Samsung devices are cheap, but not user friendly device, As far as my concern Nokia Symbian Os is the best in the world, Now I am using Belle OS in my Nokia N8, Its awesome,,,, I really disappointed while happen to know the news of Carla will not be available for Nokia N8........... I feel very sad.....

I wish Nokia keeps its Symbian^3 devices viz.N8,C6-01,C7,E7,E6,X7-00 (Myself having C7 that's why) afloat with not only Belle but also the "CARLA" update.C7 doesnot hv a 1GHz proc but the phone memory is awesome ,8GB. Hope Nokia to feel for Symbian Lovers

Even if Accenture doesn't make an official port of Carla, Donna, Emma, etc for the ^3 and Anna Gen handsets, someone in the community will. Just like you can run Gingerbread on a HTC Hero, these hotties will find their way onto the OGs. Qt framework SDK in a way will insure that.

nokia is a great device...however i will ditch my provider because sucks (rogers) but I just got a nokia n8 and after belle I wont get any updates. what's with this world these days, I need a new smartphone every year now cause all the updates won't apply to old phones..seriously?

this is unfair for other nokia symbian^3 devices namely N8, C6-01, C7, E7, E6, X7-00 because we supposed to have it as well to save the nokia industry! if Elop is really into change then better include this smartphones on the list of possible update to symbian carla and donna!

                                  Dear nokia,
i read the commets and found out that symbian belle is the last officail update for all symbian^3 smartphones....and we won't be updated with any version after that....i want to say that this is really unfair.....i have a nokia c7-00....and i am very dissapointed to hear this...you are not considering your old phones at all...not only this even c7-00 hasen't been updated to sybain belle yet although nokia promised that it would be done by Q4 of the year...this message should reach to high administators of nokia...even android updates its smartphones with the latest versions.

N, 21 Nov 2011Why anyone wonder where Nokia is steered at? Just listen to... morethese kind of attitude really makes Elop = coward..
if ur property is on fire, but still rescuable, go ahead n save it. protect it better next time.

it wont help if everytime ur house gets burned u run n build a new one every single time..

AnonD-31156, 21 Nov 2011By reading the comments I can see a lot of people assuming ... moreUpdates are definitely going to happen. They are just not going to be as dramatic updates as Anna and Belle were when Nokia had to rush to get properly competitive UI out.

By reading the comments I can see a lot of people assuming their Symbian^3 phones won't be getting any updates at all after Belle. I think that's wrong.

Look at the 5800 & Nuron 5230. Even though it didn't get updated to Anna/Belle it still got an update to it's browser and also got better overall speed / stability last month. Before that, it was the free update to Ovi Maps for most of the S60 phones like N86.

Now which Android phone can claim to have manufacturer support, no matter how small, after 3 years? Even iOS devices are only officially supported for a maximum of 3 years right?

Logically speaking, Qt components will continue to evolve and it doesn't cost Nokia much to propagate the updated components to the older phones. Especially if it's to maintain compatibility with any newer apps that will be released in the future.

I'd say Nokia hopes that people who can't afford to buy new phones will at least be able to buy new apps and keep the ecosystem alive.

Look at it this way: More apps sold = more interested developers = better quality apps = more Nokia devices sold = more apps sold = ... = everyone's happy and Nokia makes a huge pile of cash :)

Besides, your N8/E7/E6/C7/Whatnot is already fine as it is anyway. Why worry so much over what you can't control?
