Counterclockwise: the past and present of fast charging technologies

03 February 2019
The U in USB stands for "Universal", but when it comes to charging it's anything but. USB Power Delivery has the promise to change that, however.

----Thanks for the inconsideration, eh? You don't need it but I do. Many other do. And which is better, to have something that you don't need or not have something that you really need? Just like having a 3.5mm jack wouldn't degrade the wireless audio quality of the phone, but not having it degrades the versatility of the device.

"Do you have any proof for that? Because Apple uses and always used the same Li-Ion (also called Li-Poly) battery technology every other android phone uses."
----Actual usage. I already explained how my sister's iPhone 7 Plus is already down on one knee when it comes to its battery health. She keeps on constantly charging her phone at least twice per day. Meanwhile, my Zenfone Max 2015 is still running like a champ in battery, and can still go toe to toe in terms of endurance against many flagships today.
Same Li-Ion battery, but not exactly optimized as good as many other else did.

"Guess you never had an iPhone XR right?"
----You're right, because I used an iPhone XS instead, and how pathetic is it for a supposedly "more expensive" phone to have inferior battery life against its lower tier brother.
And why would I use an iPhone XR anyway? 6.1" 850p display is so 2015!

Your next statement is too long, so I'd simply answer it shortly.
YOU CAN'T ASK FOR MORE MONEY BUT NOT GIVE A LOT IN RETURN. For $700, it's pretty much mandatory to have a fast charger inside the box already, and whether I'd use it or not depends on my choice, but the option should still be there no matter what. Like I've already said, I'd rather have something that I don't need than need something that I don't have.
And who are you talking about those "average consumers?" Are you pertaining to your co-iPhone users who have been fooled by Apple's 5W charging standard to be acceptable in 2019?
Once you use fast charger, you simply would never wanna go back. Do you even know how convenient it is for your phone to top up in a hurry?
What if I forgot to charge my phone overnight? A fast charger would already yield me 75% battery in just 30 minutes, but I'd be late in school or work already for my iPhone to reach 50%.

"Your CAPSLOCK and the suggestion to "shut up" makes your comment look even more ridiculous than it already is."
----You mean I'm speaking the truth here and you're simply looking ways to prove me wrong? You know it's pretty obvious already that you're simply trying to find excuses for your beloved Apple's messed up decisions, and that impresses me as to how loyal you still wants to stay despite how much they f**k you up every year with their new bs and stupidity.

          2. "why do their batteries tend to wear down capacity so much more than any other competing Android devices when used similarly for the same period of time" Do you have any proof for that? Because Apple uses and always used the same Li-Ion (also called Li-Poly) battery technology every other android phone uses.
          3. "The fact that iPhones could barely survive a day with heavy use" Guess you never had an iPhone XR right?
          4. "a proper fast charger is still a must" The 5W charger charges my phone, so I would call it a "proper" charger. I personally don't care about charge times because I charge over night, as most people do. If some "heavy users" who have nothing to do in their life except hanging on to their phone really need to charge their phone 3 times a day, they can get that 10€ accessory for their specific way of using the phone. Someone who works in high places at buildings will also invest €10 in a 5cm thicc case if he is smart enough, and that is with any phone he will buy. The average user won't need that.
          5. Your CAPSLOCK and the suggestion to "shut up" makes your comment look even more ridiculous than it already is.

Alien , 03 Feb 2019I love how fast my S8+ is charging, but sometimes I am afra... moreIt will definitely wear down your battery capacity much faster, but the point where it will barely hold a charge would take approximately more than 5 years for it to happen, given you are consistently using the same Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger inside the box at all times.

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2019You act like your phone is 10x better than the Xs Max becau... moreFirst of all, I made mention of my Redmi 5 Plus simply to give a perspective as to how ridiculous it is not to get a fast charger inside the box of a $700 flagship phone. If you can't take the bitter taste of this reality, then I guess you shouldn't have taken it at all.
Second, other Android offerings have already proven that fast charging wouldn't exactly lessen the battery's health if the process is executed properly. Besides, with the very slow charger of these iPhones, why do their batteries tend to wear down capacity so much more than any other competing Android devices when used similarly for the same period of time? Ironic right?
Last, it doesn't matter if I charge my phone overnight or during daytime. The fact that iPhones could barely survive a day with heavy use alone already debunks your statement, but even if it wasn't the case, a proper fast charger is still a must, ESPECIALLY FOR A $700 FREAKING FLAGSHIP PHONE.
Do you get my point now? No?? Then I suggest this thing called "shut up" as it may help in this situation.

But why is that Qualcomm quick charge 4.0 chargers are not freely available in the market. Its been long time since they have been launched.

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2019If it charges too slow, buy a fast charging brick on amazon... moreWhich in itself adds up to the overall cost of the phone itself.
My Redmi 5 Plus, for example, comes with a more reasonable 5V/2A charger, all for only $200.
Many Android phones have proven how safe fast chargers are, with many old flagship phones still retaining most of their battery capacity for all the years they were being used heavily by users.
I'd definitely buy a bigger brick for faster charging speeds, but it's still ridiculous not to have something as a mandatory feature in this era, especially for a $700 smartphone.

Imperator Neubaticus, 03 Feb 2019That's an oversimplification and you know it. Shame on you. That's true fact. Sorry you never tried the phone. But you are right on every sgs model went short on battery life after that model. Right when the fast charge started for Samsung, the battery life went down.
