Snapdragon 865's first Geekbench results match Qualcomm's promises

05 December 2019
But incremental upgrades aren't enough to catch up to the market leader, Apple.

Apple's GPU is 2X as fast as 855. That's a part Qualcomm isn't even trying

"This also means that Apple’s performance will remain out of reach for the foreseeable future."
I see multicore being about the same, 3% difference is on the margin of error.

Have I got news for you.... Guess what? Those geek bench scores... Where based on just a reference device.

Just wait until it's actually in a commercial device.

I think snapdragon actually want people to underestimate the 865

Apple was the first company who introduced the 64 bit chipset in smartphone market,, Qualcomm Snapdragon comes later.. So whenever Apple introduce a new chipset that's actually one or half year newer than Qualcomm.. So it's obvious to say that the 865 is the right competitor of Apple's A13 bionic.. Although the 855+ was also a warming competitor of A13 bionic as well.. And we know old 855 could handle the A13 bionic very well XD

Why aren't you shifting over, completely, to Geekbench 5, instead trying out all versions in your reviews ? You might have good reasons, but people get confused, when on the one hand, the 5 gives out a single core measure below the 1000 mark, whereas the 4 goes into multiples.
Anyways, the SD 865, strictly, within the realm of computation and graphics is not noticably, superior to the 855, and it makes no sense for you to upgrade if you've a phone with an 855 plus. A A77 base isn't that much of an an enhancement on a like sized chip, either in potency or efficacy wrt resource management.
Huwaei chose to continue with the A76 instead and claim superiorty over the new Exynos A77 cores running at lower freq.

not sure why tech sites including gsma kept saying benchmark tests are unreliable but still uses it for reference of performance. the truth is, these benchmark tests do not equate to real-life usage as most of the time real-life usage are alot less stressful than what these devices are being subjected to in benchmarks.

The fact that 2020's Snapdragon won't catch iPhone's single core performance from 2018 should cause us pause. By blindly buying Qualcomm products we gave power to a mad dog. Much like how consumers gave power to Intel by blindly buying whatever they were putting out for the past decade and then, once AMD took its sh*t together (after more than a decade of misamanagmente of her own), exposed the "king" and showed what we always knew when we allowed Intel to go for 5% yearly increases in performance and still bought ger products.

Qualcomm is basically the Intel Corp of mobiles. Patent trolls to the max, mediocre engineers...

Oh yeah, I also forget to mention how much of a suck up Apple is for the CCP, but no, we’re the broke ones because we expect more than a half-assed offering for more than $1000.
