Samsung to use MediaTek 5G chipsets for its low-end smartphones

09 December 2019
That's just another company to MediaTek's list of smartphone vendors such as Oppo, vivo, Xiaomi and Huawei.

They made an ad almost 5 ... moreThat was years ago when Mediatek use to have chipsets with an octa-core Cortex-A7 CPU in it, so it doesn't reflect the current market in how Mediatek and Snapdragon are competing, when they using ARM cores from Cortex-A53 to above in most of their chipsets. Even Snapdragon cores e.g. Kyro, Krait, etc. are based on ARM Cores, that even Mediatek uses, so the comparison with Snapdragon to Intel or Mediatek to AMD (Bulldozer) is just a contradictory opinion, it doesn't display the real fact.

If you take for exemple mt6592 with 8 tiny Cortex A7 to some SD600 or SD800 with 4 bigger Kraith.
Of course Qualcomm made the comparison.
But where is the comparison with mt6595 with 4 Cortex A17 and 4 Cortex A7.
Cortex A17 are better than Krait 450 on most tasks including JavaScript, html5, CRC tests...

Tell me why Qualcomm copied octa design with little cores with 8 Cortex A53 on SD615? Very badly compare to mt6752.

Since SD835, Kryo aren't real custom cores...
Behavior is nearly the same compare to standard Cortex...according to core's frequencies (and memory's frequencies).

Today, CPU wise, there's nearly no difference between Mediatek and Qualcomm.

Bad sales are partly due to anti-competitive behavior...
When you overpriced standard essential patents the customers had to buy you without any choice, you can make predatory pricing on your soc.
Have a look at this for exemple :
                            https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/IP_19_4350

And there are many others courthouses decisions in China, South Korea, Europe, USA...

How can people support a company with such a bad behavior?

Will you support a football team if players play with kalashnikov to remove opponents?

They made an ad almost 5 years ago that more cores doesn't mean it's better. Some Mediatek 8 core SoC faced against a flagship 4 core SOC (SD800?) and 4 cores defeat 8 core with ease because Qualcomm refined these cores. Qualcomm is like Intel while Mediatek was AMD FX processors (Bulldozer).

I remembered how underwhelming Helio X30 was which made Mediatek quit the flagship industry until they came back with Dimensity which will be like AMD Ryzen.
