main reasons why people don get blackberry:
1st, the keypad is too small, hard to press
2nd, screen is too small, hard to see for old people, children wants to play game but hesitate cos of small screen

                                8520 Curve, with "upgraded look".

Pitty RIM can't improve performance or specs and keep a device low cost. Guess if people want to compromise specs and quality for one single app called BBM its their choice I guess

This is a "cheap" phone as far as a BlackBerry goes; but RIM should understand the target market first, before launching cheap phones and wondering why they don't sell.

And for the record, the Indian mobile market is thus:

                                  1. Ppl don't like subscriptions (needed for most BB features)
                                  2. Indians love shiny touchscreens.
                                  3. Indian market already has a pretty good number of mid-range Android touchscreens (LG and Samsung)
                                  4. Anyone who buys a BlackBerry in India is probably not tight on budget
                                  5. India already has local manufacturers like Micromax and Lava who sell feature-rich phones real cheap; and some of them are good. In fact Lava has become the first Intel powered phone. (see other article on GSMArena)

Im no fan of blackberry and for good reason especially since the specs are nothing to jump for joy with the only thing special is the the BBM and the BIS. But all and all the specs are worth the price
