Analyst estimates were spot on. What gsm arena fails to tell its readers is that the majority Nokia's loss was due to one off extraordinary costs associated with restructuring the company. In fact, they probably won't turn over a profit for another 6-12 months.
Elop was right in dropping Symbian for WP, however I can't help but wonder what would have been if Nokia pursued the Meego strategy with Intel.

Mobilemaster, 19 Apr 2012WP is better than Android? Good joke... Maybe WP8.Yes it is. WP is already far more efficient than Android and WP does it using lesser specs. Android needs big specs to hide its flaws. Without the big specs, the Android experience is crap as proven by the mid-low tier Android devices.
You just need to open up your eyes and accept the truth that WP is a younger OS than Android and it's already giving Android a run for its money.

Nokia's second golden age is almost here and WP will prove to be better than Android. The fans knows that and soon, the common people will know that, too. Elop's gamble will prove to be a stroke of genius and he will be known as the best Nokia CEO ever.

Don't worry. Nokia will be back and be profitable next quarter. The Americans are going crazy on the Lumia 900 and it's already sold out. Next quarter will be great thanks to the Lumia 900, the Android killer.

Considering the strong support from asia, I anticipate more attention and apprecitiaion from Nokia... Launch Lumia 900 soon in this region instead of running behind US...Who obviously are not gonna betray their pet APPLE...

I remember the days, when Nokia fans dominated and rubbished any predictions that this would happen.
Tumbleweeds blowing through Nokia's camp the fans have all moved on to Android.
Sad really and a blow to Finland.
