ICS might be the first iteration of Android that could be compatible with Nokia's corporate philosophies. Still, I think WP is a better fit, and will some day bring the crowds if the features ever come.

              from the report:
"marketing expenses declined primarily due to lower marketing expenditure on MeeGo and Symbian."

What the hell people scream out with Nokia+Android equation? It will provide a win/win solution for both of them... Just keep this decision beyond the reach of emotion & purely on professional view.
BTW, if I have an option to choose between (same configured ) Android, without doubt I will pick up Nokia over Samsung... & by God sake, the feeling is not just mine.....

i don't understand why they just don't drop the prices and actually sell the devices by their real price, not overprice them like all other manufacturers do. i'm sure that will target much wider group of customers who want midend devices by the affordable price that is real and fits it's quality.

Could Nokia make the next models of smart phone with different size eg: 4" or 5" ? Because every people have their own preference. Cheers Nokia!

Last time I heard. Lumia 900 is selling like crazy in the US and that's just on 1 out of 4 big carriers. They need to bring it to more carriers. Windows Phone is where Nokia focusing on. They are transitioning from Symbian to Windows Phone.

AnonD-48120, 19 Apr 2012I think the q1 results speak for itself.True that Lol but my point was that I was gambling that this thread gets flooded with Android fans again like every Nokia thread does. It's kinda funny actually

I personally think Nokia should've used MeeGo but they wanted to go WP and no it's not just Elop's decision like alot of people around the web seem to think but anyway, MeeGo was a better OS than WP and it has generated much more interest than WP but they really dropped the ball when they dropped MeeGo.

I was on many sites spreading the word about MeeGo for a year before MeeGo came out. The Real MeeGo, not Harmattan and alot of people gave me loads of backlash about it but when Nokia showed that N9 with a Partial MeeGo, not only did it shut ALL of their mouths, they actually started getting very interested in it and these were die hard Android and iOS fanboys but when Nokia dropped MeeGo, it pissed off ALOT of the supporters that Nokia had and here we are, watching Nokia lose more money. Oh well, their fault for not sticking with MeeGo.

Nokia, why to bycott Android? You should had kept yourself open to all possible OS and let the customer decide which is the best bet for themselves. By doing this, you would have covered all the areas in your product portfolio like S40(featurephone) -> Symbian (entry smartphone) -> Android (mid smartphone) ->Windows 7 mobile (upper smartphone) -> Linux Meego (top smartphone and enthusiasts). What would have been exclusive to Nokia is to finetune the hardware according to the needs of various operating system and let the brand talking do the rest. ITS NEVER TOO LATE

The problem with having such an iconic and near-universal interface is that as soon as some popular devices with that interface cause frustration and failure, anything that even looks like it will be doomed. This is what happened with Sym^3.

S60 5th is a massive fail for reasons that we're all familiar with. Sym^3 looks, on the surface, just like S60 5th. So consumers who are not nerds (i.e., most people) steered well clear of it.

WP7 was a fresh start, and the Lumias are the best WP7 phones out there. With Tango I believe that Nokia can turn Sym^3 into it's "experimental" OS - like Maemo and MeeGo before it - for unique devices like the 808 PureView. Smartphones can be covered from the low-end to the mid-high end with WP7 and Tango. WP8 will bring better hardware compatibility and allow Nokia to challenge the high-end again. But although they may have been working on this for more than a year, when it comes to the marketplace it's been less than 6 months since Nokia's re-entrance with the Lumia 800. Turning it around will take some time.
