nokia should have adapted androd, life would have been smooth,
it would have been in the place of samsung today,,,,it is self ego that had prevented it from doing so,still it is not too late.

it should start making phones with android as well,it does not need to abandon window for it.

look at samsung and htc, they both bring out android at the same moment they also churn out phones of other operating system.

if lumias would have been android it must have helped nokia turned the table for it,
till it is not too late to abandon self ego for the sake of survival

      ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

^_^, 19 Apr 2012What good is an operating system (WP) if it has nothing to ... moreI would agree, except that WP has plenty to offer in terms of features, and a perfectly adequate spread of applications. One thing I really like is that practically every app has a free trial mode; and some OS features (such as multi-account integration into the various Hubs) are unique and compelling.

I don't think anybody's suprised (although I wasn't expecting quite this sharp a drop). I don't know why, but they have responded way *way* too slowly and are suffering the consequences.

I think it's inevitable that they will slip from the top spot, but I don't think Nokia's going to die. They have a long way to go before they turn around this slide.

LOL such a dark day for Nokia fanboys. First Nuno Silva retracts his statement dashing all hopes of the Current Nokia Lumia series receiving Apollo, then Nokia post a profit margin in the negatives.

It's impressive how Elop managed to destroy what Nokia had achieved in many years... Symbian devices sales went down cause there were no new devices using it and due to the declarations of Mr. Elop that symbian has no future... I don't understand why he wasn't fired, his lead has been a total disaster... This drop in sales was also because of the most amazing smartphone ever the Nokia N9 wasn't released in many countries... Hope Nokia will do better in the future...

Window phone....ha ha ha.... its open a new window for nokia to die. Hope to see bigger dip in their sales in next year due to their policies. Nokia never intend to give the best to its user rather they want to rule the market by their own terms and finally failed. Despite consistent failure nokia still not opened their eyes ..may be forever now.

I think they should improve and use meego, try to develop a futuristic icons to replace the basic icons in meego, and maybe it will work. See, wp is not bad at all i have used wp before and it is easy to familiarize with. Still meego gives you the simplicity everyone needs. I don't have anything with andriod but i don't know why it doesn't interest me a bit, maybe because of iOS. If you had experience iphone first before jumping to android, you'll feel that you just downgraded your experience. But with meego its like new experience, yup i know they are not the first on touch screen but try it out and you'll see what i mean. Nokia, re-think your strategy!!!!

I think if nokia continue to run strongly Symbian os with windows then Nokia could catch extra market place.
i am an android user, android is very interesting and getting very popular os but i am now tired.Android does my brain engage to make my phone up to date and for new better apps installing and uninstalling os maintenance etc and i am really very tired. now i am planing to go with Symbian again.Belle is now very cool os belle can do every thing easier of our daily use and have getting more fun.I think huge peoples are spending same as my situation. So If not,Elop will become flop and soon Nokia become a little baby company.ha ha ha ha.......and giant company will eat it,

I am not sure why people just love so much to hate Nokia. No doubt they had excellent past and horrible present, but for some reasons nokia haters lobby so much to write premature obituaries when no one really knows whats there in future.

                                Few facts:
symbian is neither dead nor dying as claimed by several. Belle FP1 came out last week, carla and donna scheduled later this year.Belle FP1 is no longer the symbian you saw in N97.

Lumia doing exceedingly well against WP competition. Clear winner vs Samsung, HTC.

BB is quite weak. The reason why BB grew was basically due to Enterprise demand. With shaken confidence on BB service, industry is out looking for alternatives. Microsoft has clear strategy to integrate Desktop Ms-Office with mobile device. Stretching beyond just emails, Microsoft is bringing Lync, sharepoint, document connect to mobile device. This, plus Ms office comes free on WP and Belle. This is a winning strategy. With proven Enterprise Encryption technology, MS will be eating into tnis market space that was BB's monopoly.

Devices like Pureview will attract a fan base no matter what is price point.

IMO, Nokia has good strategy for 2012-13 too early to write them off. And don't forget despite losses, they are still cash rich company and can afford to through Lumia 900 for free to gain market share

The Customer care is decent but if you wish to compare with all companies it is Apple who has the best customer care (Replace your Idevice if there is a problem within the warranty period with no unnecessary bullshit). Updates are frequent on it as well. My friend had an N8 and he would be waiting for months before belle actually arrived.

Nokia's problem is the delay they had to seriously get into the smartphone "open" market. Their symbian devices stayed the same for almost 10 years while only camera or hardware changes were brought... and this is a shame given the huge advantage they had.
Microsoft on the other hand didn't market properly.. I can still remember owning the imate pda2k almost 7 years ago, and it had amazing features such as touch, gps, and even apps that one could install through sync... but they never knew how to get into the smarthpone segment from a novice non-technical customer's viewpoint..

I hope this alliance will level things a little bit and wish good luck to all 3 major OSs because they are truly contributing to making our lives easier.

Nokia should've gone Meego + Android. WP as third minor option, at least.

Symbian is fine imho right now (Belle), but is too late: it's "reputation" has beed damaged, which means people not buying Symbian phones + developers no longer focusing that much/at all on new Symbian apps. Plus, still low-res displays, too much fragmentation (more than Android), still no proper social networks integration (I don't care but many do).
