With due respect i regard the credit to Samsung. Its in top today not because Nokia did mistakes, but has built an empire of its own. There are years of hardwork and commitment behind the success.

I dont think samsung will stop soon and shall retain being the pioneer, atleast in the smartphone segment.

Nokia was ignorant to customers who demanded better user interface in Symbian, better apps. Can't say I am the least bit surprised. Nokia brought it on itself. Although it is trying to regain it reasonably with windows 7. It is the same problem...keep waiting for a better software version which will fill up its gaps. Anyone who uses IOS or Android will probably not go back to Nokia if they had experienced the crappy laggy Symbian OS. Its just difficult to trust the company which fails to take care of its users. Remember many of these IOS or Android users were Nokia's market share.

Shame, the Nokia fanboys seem to be feeling VERY sour, their last line of defense "Nokia is the largest phone maker" has just been stripped away painfuly by the far more innovative, versatile and highly competitive Samsung.
The only thing they can say is Samsung is a "copy cat"...a very childish and uninsightful thing to say when you consider Samsung have climbed up the charts over the past 5years through innovation and creativity, it truely showed with both the Samsung i8510 Innov8 and i8910 OmniaHD that they had the power to make a seriously powerful and competitive state-of-the-art high end smartphone, the Galaxy S, Galaxy SII Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Note pretty much proved it, followed by all their mid to low end droids that have proved to be more powerful and functional than what Nokia could do.

Well done to Samsung, and considering how much hype the S3 and the next Note are getting it seems they are here to stay.

I had 5 friends. One bought SGS II because he liked the display. Second bought HTC because he really liked Android. Third bought LG because he found a very light weight phone. Fourth got iPhone 4S and fifth bought Motorolla because he was brand loyal since earliest Motorolla phones.
And based on this data, "intelectuals" are comparing and finding that... oh yessss... iOS has only 20% market share as compared to 80% Android... oh.. Android is beating iOS.....
              So funny !!!!

real question is what is numbers we talk about. it's not share all that maters, Nokia can be selling 10M units last year, and this year also, but in the same time Samsung grow up from 10M to 28M of units as more and more people are buying smartphones. so in that case, nokia did lost a share, but still, they selling the same...

The title misleads, 02 May 2012Who said anything about sold or selling? You keep forge... moreI just dont understand why u guys cant understand the fact that what is past is past. No one denies the fact that when it comes to dumbphones, nokia remains the best choice thanks to its superb build quality n durability n good designs. So it ruled the dumbphone era. But nokia never had a really firm foothold in the smartphone world. It was only one or two like the n8 n 603 n n95 that managed to attract attention. So now, as the dumbphone era is in its twilight phases n as dawn of the smartphone era breaks nokia naturally is struggling. U can see that nokia's smartphone share out of its total sales is just about 15%. Whereas apple(100% smartphone share) n samsung(46% smartphone share) are pulling in the entire mobile profits. If nokia seriously doesnt step up its game in the hardware as well as software section, its gonna soon be a history.

What da h*** are you talking about, nokia doesnt make cpu gpu and things like that, it will die in near future. All those 14 year they made different fones with same crappy cpu... if nokia would rule to mobile world we would never see that displays and such games etc etc.
                        Take a look around. Peace

GSMArena still keeps nokia in the top of phone's brand because it doesn't trust the unexpected increase in samSuck sells. It is like a bubble and will explode soon.
Nokia I love you and our generations upbrought on your phones. You are the best offcourse, but please change your strategy and especially the operating system and you will come back soon.
