If RIM cannot change their game plan now, I don't see any hope for their survival.

ThePalmer, 09 May 2012I used to really like you Blackberry but then you didn't of... more"Same old design", if you look at the phone designs of most of the leading manufacturers, they rarely, if at all, vary their core design concept. Whilst many people bang on about how great the iphone is, others bemoan the lack of design change since 2007, so go figure!

MrR&R, 09 May 2012Working in a returns and repairs team I don't hold blackber... moreFrom your experience with all these returns what woould you say the weak point is?

Are the mechanical components like the keyboard, buttons or port covers failing under normal use? Or electrical issues like reception cutting out or battery suddenly dying? Software like the phone rebooting, locking up or not working correctly after a period of time? Or is it material breakage like cracked screens, cases or liquid damage?

Everyone is missing the point. Obviously Research in Motion is promoting the idea of retro phones. Who else is developing phones from the '90s? This is the hip new idea that's going to cause their stock to explode. I hear the version after this has 8 bit graphics too. I for one am extremely excited by this decision. :-/

This seems no different to what they have been putting out for the last 2 to 3 years. Even the cheapest Android, Symbian or Windows device can match or better this. RIM need to wise up or they will have no market segment to sell in to soon.

If the price was under 200 USD, this might be an okay device. Knowing RIM, though, and the fact that this will be more expensive than the $200 Curve 9220 (which is not exactly "cheap"), the price of this phone will be somewhere around $250, which will make it seriously overpriced.

Working in a returns and repairs team I don't hold blackberry in high regard. To unreliable.

As a smartphone enthusiast I never feel like I blackberry are a must have phone. If I want top end with most features and support I look elsewhere.

I can give credit to blackberry for still producing lower budget smartphones but when compared to things like the Samsung galaxy W blackberrys lower tier stuff are poorer performing and less reliable.
