Nokia drops support for Skype app on the Lumia 610

23 May, 2012
According to Nokia, the reason for this is that the user experience was below par.

DireWolf, 23 May 2012"If people who own Skype have been unable to optimize ... moreindeed but Samsung did that on purpose and that what all the companies who using Android OS do, most of last year models will not get ICS update for obvious reason they want to sell the new models if my previous i9000 will get ICS officially i will not consider to update to S2 OR S3 ...on the other hand my 3 years old iPhone 3GS still receive updates and working like charm

Now I want to hear again the voice of WP7 fanboys saying that Android is heavy and slow... the truth is that Android was the only OS that was available even on 600 MHz processors with 256 MB of RAM, yet people were comparing it with 500+ EUR phones like iPhone or high-end WP7 phones.
Now that we also have entry-level WP7 phones with lower specs, we're starting to see the truth: WP7 is not so light as advertised.

"If people who own Skype have been unable to optimize it properly for the lesser hardware, we wonder if third party developers will be able to do it."
For example, Samsung has been unable to provide ICS for the Galaxy S1, yet indie developers made it.

Microsoft is crap, it was and will always be! Now I want all those who think Symbian is not a good OS, think about it, Symbian can run skype on much lower resources and even multitask the apps!

Nokia tried make a budget WP7 phone but 800mhz processor and 256 mb ram isn't enough for WP7 . They could have tried with 1ghz and 512 mb combination or 384 mb of ram like samsung did with their budget WP7.

Its definitely gonna have a negative effect for nokia, specially to the budget conscious user. Androids of same price range gonna have the benefit.

from the start i want to say that my last mobiles were: iphone4,galaxy s2,htc one x and now i own a iphone 4s. so i am not a nokia fan. my last 2 nokia were n8 and n9. all i want to say is that i like very much windows, the way it moves, the user interface, it is smooth, simple, cool. if nokia will make better cameras on lumia, i will buy. and windows 8 will be superb on mobiles

                                    Super stupidity by Nokia.

This is the time when you test that relationship with Microsoft. They agreed to let the OS run on 256mb RAM now let them come up with a skype version that works on it. If old android phones with 256mb RAM can run skype, Symbian phones with much lower RAM can run skype why can't WP 7 run it, is it really that inefficient? If Elop doesn't make a big deal out of this he is a Microsoft shill.

I wish Nokia kicks out MS and start working on Qt and Maemo5 based Nokia Belle and MeeGo OSs along with Accenture. Don't know why they are embarrassing themselves. First MS puts the hardware limitations, then OS limitations and now this. What a shame...
