s, 13 Jul 2012Half of the problem are the mediocre parts, the other half ... morei absolutely agree with you. The 2012 Sony lineup is ugly and technically speaking a bit of a dissapointment ( They put a 1300 battery on a 4" phone). Also agree that they are too bulky and overall very uncomfortable to use (i've tested every sony phone that has come out this year and the problem is with all of them). I absolutely loved Sony Ericsson and at this point if things go the way they are going right now im gonna hate Sony. I still use the SE Arc. CPU is clocked to 1.4 (same as Arc S) and Android 4.0.4 installed and it runs FASTER than the Xperia S plus its way better looking and much more comfortable to use. I hope Sony make changes and take into account what they have learned from Ericsson over the years because Sony is an electronics manufacturer, Ericsson is the phone geniuses. I don't want a TV in my pocket, i want a smartphone.

Any body that ever complains about sony phones obviously is a geek that can't live without quad cores. Comparing samsung to sony is like comparing a toyota to a mercedes benz. Are u guys insane? in the world of electronics today, the only thing samsung those better is marketing strategy and mass production but as far as quality goes, sony is way better than any product you can think of.

AnonD-36622, 13 Jul 2012Maybe u are undecided with Samsung, HTC or even iPhone?! Ma... morethe only thing people who really know what quad core's advantage is about the battery life... its good if sony would follow the trend, which is giving Sony's rivals like Apple, LG, HTC and Samsung a dose of their own medicines! if Sony would have a better battery life plus, injecting a formula which is incorporating the latest chipset like an S4 processor may help them raise their name on the race of making the best phones in the market. if that happens, Sony will blow all its rivals out of this planet! i believe in you Sony, please do not disappoint your fans...

i hope this phone would have a 1.5GHz or higher than that with a power of a nice set of quad core processors! Sony is the leader in making great electronics but i hope this time they'll move forward and compete with others like samsung, htc and lg! quad core is the standard and i hope, i still hope that the int'l version of Xperia GX and this phone plus Acro S should all be quad cores! please Sony, listen to your loyal consumers like what Sammy does. more power Sony!

Sony manufactures phones with great designs. That starts way from 2011 when they launched models like the arc, arc S, ray, neo and the minis. And that moved on to the oh-so awesome NXT series and their siblings, ion, acro S, go etc.

Honestly speaking, I don't understand why people are so obsessed with Samsung. Look, the only nice-looking Samsung phone was the previous SII and all Samsung has is their overclocked processing speed which actually lags in daily use as claimed to be. Plus, Samsung phones have low build quality, below-par usability and ugly screens plus horrible UI design. My bro's SII actually lagged a lot even when he uses it for casual web browsing. So I took an Xperia ray. Although being single-core, it handled my daily chores very well without occasional lags as what the Samsung has to do with me. Plus, the design's awesome and the camera's much much better than shots taken with the SII.

The 2012 Xperia line is absolutely wonderful, I would say. The screen, the design, the camera, everything! Sony has a better UI than Samsung too. Plus, dual-core in Sony should be more than enough since my 1GHz ray did pretty well with me. There's no need for quad-core. And one thing that I don't understand is that why SII lags so much compared to my ray. I wonder...

its great if it has bigger screen or put in a quadcore chip in there. but it would be perfect if they put in JELLYBEAN in there..

I used 3 Motorola's customer care hopeless. Eat battery. Take hours to recharge. I used HTC's. Eat batteries. Take hours to recharge. I used Xperia arc and now with Xperia S. Best out of all. One charge is enough for the day. Recharge very fast. Performance excellent. I love Xperia S.

Half of the problem are the mediocre parts, the other half is mediocre design. Arc had an amazing and innovative design. It was so fresh and cool. Their 2012 line-up are just way too bulky and average. I have high hopes for their summer releases (lt29 and lt30) as far as design goes but the more I see from Sony the more worried I get. Perhaps we need to see a brand new, Japanese design team and wait for next year's line-up and until then just stick with Samsungs and HTCs (HTC did well with design).

Anonomous, 13 Jul 2012Hi there, You know i used to use a nokia phone and i lik... moreSame here Buddy!!
Although I started with Samsung, never liked Nokia for its sick design sense. I then shifted to Sonyericsson as soon as I felt that samsungs ran a very rigid software in them. However, I did give them all a try again when the smart phone revolution came to a rise alongside android's rise and symbian's demise. Tried N8 (Was good, no doubt but only for a few months) then Galaxy S2 and hated using it and finally settled with ARC S and am in love with it.
One of the best things about Sony has always been probably their continued stress on keeping the devices open source. In fact most of the modern day standards being followed in the touch smart phones had been established by Sony way back in P Series days. In fact I still don't find that depth in menus as I did enjoy in the P1.
Indeed Sony has had its bad patch and their marketing team mainly has been the worst out there. Hoping that the bad time is over now and they will make a strong come back in the market.
                              SONY RULES!!!!!
