Many manufacturers don't want to waste resources on software. They are hardware manufacturers after all. This is why Windows Phone 8 will rock.

All smartphone users are expecting to get all future android updates on their phones? I think no. Now it's time of dual cores and quad cores and soon single cores will be history. It's always good to get the update for your Phone as it's a whole new experience (just like I got ICS on my HTC Sensation XE)but how many updates?

This reason is full of Lolz. They made the device, they could have a part of the updater pull the data partition, section out personal contacts and data and restore it signed with HTC keys. But they don't want to cause a possible vulnerability as well. Could also use a self made application to save it to the SD and restore. Lame overall excuse and I'm so glad I'm part of the android community with sites like XDA and RootzWiki.

I believe this is what HTC should do: Complete the update and put it online. If the users are willing to upgrade, they will do and love HTC for doing that, if they won't they shouldn't have to. Don't misunderstand me --- They must warn the users of the possible threads and hazards that can occur, but it should be their call whether to upgrade or not. Just like the original Desire - Android 2.3 (GB) scenario...

Since LG's dualcore lineup won't get the update, HTC isnn't that blammable to not upgrade a phone released in 2010.

HTC wants people to believe that there's no other way. Well there is a way to move personal information to the microsd while the update repartitions the file system AND THEN move the personal information back to where they're supposed to be. Whatever modification is required, it can be done. Programming is not a profession for stupid people, and I refuse to believe that HTC has stupid people on their payroll. Basically, this is bull, ok?

AnonD-26941, 28 Jul 2012HTC should've made the freakin update !!! there is nothing... moreNot everyone reads those warnings unfortunately. What these people will do is say it is somehow HTC fault... What HTC should do is to 'leak' the ROM.
