Apple have a lot of time using the 30-pin connector, it's not bad to change once in a while. Things change, just look at the MiniUSB and the MicroUSB.

interesting fact the eu made it a std or asked all phone company to make micro usb a std so we didnt need to a buy a thousand or so cables. nice that apple does its own thing again!!!!!!!!!!

It is quite clear that since they are not selling phones like before they want to make money by any psbl ways, so selling us$ 10 each cable and than conectors, and other acc this will be a new biz for them

i wonder if that cable dock connector can be use as a universal, i mean, same way as with the Nokia devices. different phones, same charger connectors. for example, my N9's micro usb charger could also be used to charge my portable wifi. i hope so. we'll definitely have answers in a few weeks time.

Apple should be able to design proprietary port extended from micro USB for, just like USB 3.0 port can be used with micro USB 2.0 cable. Then iDevice charging still can be done using micro USB charger.
