"Chinese phone" doesn't mean anything as China has the most diverse smartphone landscape. There are cheap and poor quality phones to some of the best if not the best phones but it all depends on the brand. Looking at phones from a nationality is bizzare to say the least.

In the past i always avoided Chinese phones because their quality but after JerryRigEverything showed that Chinese phones have a very sturdy construction even for phones with pop up cameras i started using Chinese phones and felt satisfied with their phones both in terms of hardware and software.
Only Chinese haters don't appreciate what Chinese brands have done for consumers because they have helped to provide affordable, well-equipped and fully featured mobile phones for all their users they have also played a major role in driving the advancement of innovation in the mobile world.
