16 November, 2012
Sony has been quite an Android underdog lately, but its top brass says the odds are about to turn.

AnonD-59886, 17 Nov 2012A little too late Sony, to survive you need to be ahead of ... moreexactly, and i think this just the thing that Android needs; premium handsets. atleast, that's what i'd buy.

A little too late Sony, to survive you need to be ahead of the competition and not follow it... All the best with that!

A 5inch display is not what Sony should be putting in a device to compete with the iph5 and the S3. It's too big and would only be competing with other phoneblets like the Note 2. I know 5inches doesn't sound like much more than the 4.8 of the S3 but keep in mind Sony loves to had way to much bezel to the bottom of their devices so on a 5inch screen it could result in a devices as big as the Note. Unless they can really go conservative with that bezel I think they should try to make the screen a little bit smaller. BUT idk if that is possible considering aspect ratios and that resulation with the technology they have AND I would really have to see the screen reduced lol
Another thing I have been wondering is if it will have on screen buttons or not because they usually add a few extra pixels to accommodate that but I am yet to see any indication that they will be passing the exact FullHD threshold

I feel sorry for those that judge sony electronics based on the success of there mobile division. That will be total ignorance because sony products are still miles ahead of what ever samsung is offering. From tv's to blue ray players, even laptops, you just can't compare both when it comes to quality. All I see samsung doing is adding more cores to mobile phones and counting on massive number/quantity of products with cheap price tags.

This is good news. I haven't had a Sony handset since my old K700i but I loved that phone. Unfortunately it died just after the warranty expired :(

Sony, just make sure that you separate the OS for the GUI. If you can allow us to always run the latest Android build shortly after Google release it, I will buy your phone.

            Anything else is secondary.

THIS IS AWESOME NEWS! i always wanted a high-end/premium Android phone from Sony, but NOOO... they never realeased one! now i'm an iPhone user... a happy iPhone user, that is, but still, i'm looking forward to this!

i'm the kind of user who appreciates design and build quality over performance, and i think more Android manufacturers should do this. the market is not as huge as with mainstream products, but it definetly exists.

155 coments already says it all. People have decided to stick with Sony even when they knew competitors had better solutions in terms of spec and price. It is a very very big sacrifice to make for any firm. So question is, what has sony done to put things right? The answer is nothing yet. They have been playing catch up to competitors because you need innovations in other to compete and for two decades now sony has not being innovating, therefore their products no longer appeal to new consumers and some older customers, abandoned them! as a result, sony continues to suffered serious losses and you know what? They are comfortable with that! But as a fan, it hurts! Dreaded brand names has become ordinary names because they have lost the very essence that they were created for, to competitors in various segments, still sony has done nothing about it, if it is a JUJU! I pray it gets losed so that sony will bounce back to those days! and if it does happens, i will be the most delightful man on this planet, to prove it, i will trek from the streets of Australia to the unrestive niger delta region of Nigeria, without my feets toughing the ground, just to spread the good news.

All I really know about all these catching up talk is this, sony is not really talking there mobile section seriously as they do with other things they make. These guys are people like u & I and in life what isn't your passion won't show your true potential. Take a long look at samsung for example, the first thing you'll notice is there hunger to dominate in the world of electronics not just there mobile section. Infact samsung wouldn't mind making a million phones per week just to trounce sony by any means. Same goes to LG and some other ones. But all am saying is this, its time people face the reality that catching up in this mobile war is all they're gonna get from sony mobile. Sony would rather spend billions in development of next playstation than to spend a thousand in there mobile phone. For some of you that want to know what sony is capable of why not try to compare there blu ray player or tv's with that of samsung and know who's really the true king in electronics not quantity. Am a sony fan and luckily am not a phone freak like most people are so am down with sony, all the way. LONG LIVE SONY, LONG LIVE PLAY.

it's too late for sony to do that!! samsung is probably already working on the new flagship. I mean i love sony and i would be more than happy to be owning a sony phone again. hoping if they launch it soon enough it would surpass the S3 and have a good battery life then i would think of buying one.
