The conspiracy theorists who believe the world is about to be hit with a global magnetic axis wobble and destruction of lots of the planet and inland see going up to Ohio are going be happy with this one, on top of Bill Gates and other super thanks cl people buying up opportune farm land, and other rich people getting helipads and remote locations. Yep, a field day for them.

Wonder why you waste you time here when they are spending 20 BILLION and could totaly use your expertise

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2022I bet it is wanna be TSMCDoing something as part of their duty as semiconductor manufacturer is considered to be a wanna-be of somebody else that does the same thing? What kind of stupid idea is that?
Perhaps we can also say that ALL Android phone makers are Apple wanna-be's since they are doing the same thing of making smartphones. Really funny, lol.

It makes perfect sense and I am glad to see strategic manufacturing returning to the free world. Without it, there may not be a free world much longer.

Not, can Apple get rid of Tim Cook, stop the secret technology transfers to China and start innovating again?

Big projject but as long as the delivery of the basic materials for making chips will stop due to covid, pandemic and even worse kind of disseases this will have no or minimum future.
And 3000 jobs for such a big building is plain waste.
Soon or later machines will send us on a permanent elderly vaccation.
Hate to admit that but we have no choice.
In next 100 years or so even a building big like that will need just one person to make all work done. Machines will do the rest. No need to hire anyone else.

They can build as many plants as they want - but they wont be making any chips because all the machines are sold out.

There is only one company (ASML) that makes printers capable of latest generation chips - and they're already sold out years in advance.

It is statistically one of the safest place in the US when it comes to natural disasters and unplanned events. Lots of data centers and NOCs are housed here.

chips and control both the Lithograph machines and the Fabs themselves and not outsource to TSMC and Samsung.
