There are at least two variations of this model with distinct difference regarding software update.
The SOG08 version got Android 13 in Spring of 2023 and several security updates. The most current one as of November 2, 2023 is from September 1, 2023.
The A203SO version (unlocked Y! Mobile model in my case) is stuck on Android 12. Security updates: June 1, 2022.
Advice to anyone interested in this phone then - make sure it's SOG08 version.

Anyone had any luck getting WiFi calling / VoWifi to work?
I'm using one in the UK and can't even find an option for it.

After checking other providers I found out KPN and Vodafone work here, though no internet when calling.
A great phone, shame Sony doesn't offer it in the rest of the world.

I bought the phone on amazon.jp. I mostly get one or two out of four bars of signal strength on the signal indicator, when using 4G. 3G and 2G work completley well, as with other phones but there is almost no more 3G here in EU so cellular coverage will be bad. In Italy they seem to use the same bands as in Japan as the coverage was excellent (always 4 bars) but in Germany, the phone was connected to 2G almost all of the time.
Otherwise I am satisfied with the phone for the price of 194 €. It is a a bit slow but within the range of acceptance.

I like the compact design, sony should have released this globally. I have read that this phone does not cover all the bands so signal strength may be poor outside Japan.

Yusef, 31 Oct 2022does anybody knows it support dual sim card and what are in... moreThere is a single nanoSIM slot plus eSIM option. So it's kind of Dual SIM in that regard. SD card slot, USB-C and 3.5 jack are on board too.
There is virtually NOTHING in the box besides the phone and some paperwork. It is a pretty shoddy box too, if you asked me.
The phone is a decent entry one for the current price. Roughly 150 USD seems fair.

this guy is an entry level phone thats not widelay available in many country and cost higher than entry level phone from realme, xiaomi, however sd card slot and importantly compact 5.5 inch size in 16.9 aspect ratio is a bless, unlike xperia 10 iv which have overly tall 21.9 aspect ratio marketed as compact phone more widely available in many country... this ace iii is perfect for audio enthusiast who use extenal dac dongle collection tho..perfect screen size and more than adequate power to run lossless music. the cheapest digital android player (dap) from sony, shanling, fiio, cost a whole lot more...

As i mentioned or suggested bak den sd480 wd compak size is already a winner i hope we can have access from other parts of asia sony ..

You know what, SCREW Sony. How hard can it be to release a phone worldwide? Same thing with the availability of their other phones, I think only in Europe and a few Asian Countries and half a year later the US.
They seriously don't want people to buy their phones, what a strategy.

They could have just given it a better camera or even the same 18mp camera with ois that they had on the ace 1 or the same as the Xperia 10 IV but no.. And of course make it available worldwide
