Samsung claims that yields from its 5 nm foundries are improving

18 March 2022
Those foundries are making chips like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but are seeing low yield rates.

where did you get the news that samsung snapdragon gen 1 yield is 35% when they didn't say it in the official report? can i have a link from samsung. mind you Nvidia graphics card are made by Samsung yet they are better than TSMC AMD, you all fail to get it. it's not about the company manufacturing its about the circuit design. even if snapdragon takes it's production to TSMC the result will not improve. why becos it's the same circuit. Qualcomm needs a new designing team, a new revised circuit diagram, you are all children you know nothing about foundry production.

samsung needs to get their stuff together. i like tsmc as much as the next person for the performance and efficiency uplift they always bring, but a monopoly for anything is never a good thing. i'd rather see them fight it out, not playing catch up to tsmc.

Yields may be improving, but it is still leaking current like a sieve and thus will produce chips that overheat.

                Samsung, we're sorry.

Please stay away from Android chips. You guys aren't capable of doing any half decent shi*.

Results of exynos 1280 are very inconsistent both in geekbench and antutu, the average multicore scores are 400 behind dimensity 900 with same cpu configuration

isn't the gen 1 from tsmc? why even mention it when its not even 5nm

Sammy nm process is a joke

Yield isn't the only thing you need to worry about Sammy

What about your poor transistor density and thermals smh

Qualcomm you made huge mistake when you went for Samsung... Because they were "cheaper" penny wise pound foolish decision Qualcomm

Last year Qualcomm left the 888 and didn't care if it was overheating and Qualcomm thought they could get away with again in 2022...

And now mediatek got their foot in the door securing 4nm TSMC

Qualcomm your in real trouble now because with competition manufacturers will have choice so you'll lose out revenu from licensing and other fees or using shady contracts as leverage over other OEMs

With mediatek's rise manufacturers have a choice now

And don't be surprised if mediatek goes for the jugular and secures 3nm before Qualcomm

Remember mediatek is hungry for it and they got a taste of blood with the D9000 what's going on right now in the flagship android space is a first in history
