How sad the great mobile platform which gave birth to numerous Nokia smartphones is no more now.Back in 2005 the key features of mobile phones introduced is its capabilities to play mp3 and some video files and the camera.Even on that era Symbian start to pioneer its own PC like features on a mobile phone which can be concluded as smartphones as well.Nokia should concentrate on ways on improving Symbian like Blackberry is doing on their OS rather than producing Windows phones which has some serious limitations.Me and all my friends were very very interested in Symbian phones especially the Nokia one during our secondary education period somewhere from 2005 until even 2012

Late to the party and bought a Nokia 700 on December 2012... but eh. I've been a loyal customer to Nokia and I grew up with the Symbian OS. Sucks though to see Symbian not getting enough 3rd party support, I'm sure that's what lead it to its demise.

RIP Symbian. You will be missed.

no other os can replace symbian
can you imagine any os with 512mb ram capturing a 1080p video or a 256mb ram device capturing hd video
      never...

if it is possible one day then people will realize the value of symbian and the great battery backup too with no other os can offer till day.even a 1000mah battery will give 10hours talk time
lets hope one day people will bring symbian back when they get bored of their quad cores and gigs of ram race
and when they realize the power of symbian with less powerful processor and less powerful battery

AnonD-18125, 27 Jan 2013Everybody knows the truth - 808 PV with single core process... moreActually it can. See E6 with higher resolutions [same with BB 9900 but, smaller screen] and with 680hmz, 256mb. But it make some apps compatibility problem.

Because nokia doesn't want make fragmentation apps like android, nokia prefer nHD. Anyway, my 808 screen was better than another phone. Said by my friends with samsung s3 and iphone 5. They say my nokia 808 are DSLR killer too.

Symbian was my first step into the smartphone era. I had the good luck to have used almost all of its different iterations over the years. While it wasn't the prettiest OS around, it was quite functional, and S60v5 introduced the world to the concept of decent screen resolutions in usable formats.

That's it, I've said some good things at the funeral. I'll always remember Symbian with fondness.

As for the Pureview, while it was a great swansong for Symbian, I also think that it was a bad decision. The N8 was a great way to end things, and that was the point when Nokia should have jumped ship. The sheer awesomeness of the Pureview camera deserved a more concurrent platform, like Windows Phone.

Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish!

We all knew this was eventually coming, but it's now official. Symbian on Nokia is dead. Nokia managed to send off the once might platform in style. The 808 PureView will go down in history as the last Symbian device by the Finnish manufacturer. Nokia announced the news alongside its great...

If it has a top bar, that means that is android?:)) Everything in Belle is Symbian, from top to bottom. And has some similarities with Maemo and meego. And all were under Nokia development. Android stole allot of ui from iphone who stole allot from palm OS and BlackBerry. Meltimi/Maemo and Symbian were also at the base of android stealing business. So, in fact, android copied allot. Quite allot!! From UI till the way of doing things, till music player interface... And not vice-verse.
